It comes with a soft beater bar for hardwood in the main bigger head unit and an additional brush you could swap out to use on carpet. It is pretty convenient and picks up the dog hair quite well. We were thinking this would also be a great vacuum for college kids and might send with my son to college. Overall very pleased and like that it also comes with a small powered brush head that works well on the couch or stairs.
