I gotta say, this thing has been a lifesaver this year. We've had an unseasonably warm summer where I'm from (everyday being in the 90s or higher) and this thing has been great! I think they say that it's designed to cool 300 SQ FT, our main level is probably closer to 800, and while I don't expect the entire house to be cooled by this thing, it does surprisingly well cooling the entire floor! This it the 4th portable AC unit I've owned in the past 15 years. This unit is pretty good overall, but in my opinion it is not very bedroom friendly. The reason is that there is no constant-on fan mode while in cool mode. Therefore, the unit will cycle on and off all night while you are trying to sleep and this is not very sleep friendly. The white noise of the fan is comforting and then, all of a sudden, it turns off and its quiet. Then, soon after that, it cycles back on again. There have been times when it literally turned off for 2 seconds before cycling back on again. The constant back and fourth will wake you up if you are not yet in a deep sleep. This in the only unit out of the 4 that I have owned that does not have a constant-on fan mode while in cool mode. The second "not so bedroom friendly" aspect is the bright LED display. It will light up your room like a Christmas tree. You can try to cover it up slightly, but the remote control sensor is just below the LED so you don't want to cover it all the way. It would be nice if it had a dimmer. Other than that it's a pretty nice unit. Good price, good cooling capability, compressor cycles on and off fairly quietly, the fan has a nice white noise, the remote is good quality and the unit itself is good quality. Read more

We carefully removed the unit from its box, only to find that enough coolant had spilled in transit to coat the lower part of the machine and create a large, greasy spot in the bottom of the box. We have many appliances with coolant shipped to us over the years, so we are well-versed in keeping it upright as we removed it. This is the first one to arrive with any kind of spill, let alone such a large and noticeable one. We hoped that enough coolant remained that the unit would still work, so we installed it and let it sit another day before using it (the instructions recommend letting it sit for 3 hours, but we need it for cooling our bedroom, and weren't going to wake up in the middle of the night to turn it on). The unit never blew more than slightly cool air, despite being set at its lowest temperature, and even with the exhaust directed out the window with minimal air leaks, it wasn't enough to compensate for the added heat from operating the machine. Our bedroom wound up much, much warmer than it had been with both windows open. It was also slightly warmer than the adjacent room was on the same night, which only has a single window and which was only slightly cracked. The unit was also incredibly loud at both fan settings. The higher setting was loud enough to make you worry for your hearing; the lower setting was loud enough to make conversation difficult. It's possible that this was entirely a result of the loss of coolant, but I'm adding our data point anyway. Others are correct that the piece that is meant to go in the window is too wide for many standard windows. This would be a simple problem for the manufacturer to solve. So I've been living in my camper after losing my home to a hurricane. I needed an air conditioner and decided with this one. The first one arrived damaged but I believe that was the shippers fault. I notified CostWay and they immediately sent a new one with no hassle. I had to manufacturer a ventilation system and it works fine. I don't run it while I'm at work and when I come home it'll be like 85-90 degrees in my camper and this AC gets it down to 72 in minutes. I barely have to run this thing. Definitely 5 stars. Great company too. My only "complaint", if you'd even call it that, is it is a bit noisy. But you learn to sacrifice when tiny living. I'd recommend. Read more

The media could not be loaded. Phoenix, Arizona: AC went out and I am unable to replace it so I started researching portable room ac units. This was on sale, had an additional coupon and many reviews. Many reviews complained of the noise but I found the noise to not be intrusive and the machine sits between my couch and tv. It does not hinder watching the tv at all. My house is way larger then the unit is for but I needed it to cool the back main portion and it does a wonderful job. I am very impressed with the machine and am thinking adding a second unit to the back portion of my house to replace the fans currently in use there. Totally recommend purchasing! Read more

this unit cools the entire upstairs of my home lets say about 900 sq feet of space , its alittle loud but works like a champ , things been on all summer easy to maintain and install kinda bulky but beats a window unit hands down . the casters are quality and very useful save onnthe back . gonna buy one for the garage next yr Read more
