COTZ Sensitive Non-Tinted Zinc Oxide Mineral Sunscreen for Body and Face Broad Spectrum SPF 40 3 5 oz

I have been using this sunscreen for 7 years and I love it. It's my favorite sunscreen for my dry, sensitive, and acne prone skin. It's non-comedogenic, fragrance free, and only zinc oxide so it's not irritating, doesn't burn around the eyes, and doesn't break me out. I've tried many zinc oxide sunscreens and this one is hands down the best. It leaves very little white cast relative to most zinc oxide sunscreens. Many zinc oxide sunscreens claim to be sheer but it's a complete lie (looking at you Neutrogena Sheer Zinc). This one leaves a very sheer white cast that I think for most light to medium skin tone people wouldn't be an issue. If you have a deeper skin tone you might like their tinted options. Additionally this one does NOT pill or flake off like many zinc oxide sunscreens so you can easily reapply throughout the day, including over makeup, without the texture getting weird. The only complaint I have about this sunscreen is I hate how the volume is just large enough that it's not allowed through TSA in a carry-on. They should either reduce the size by 0.1 ounces or make it bigger so there's not as much plastic waste. Read more

As a darker-skinned person, I have been on a mission to find a mineral sunscreen that is water-resistant with no chalky white cast and no sticky feeling AND no annoying fragrance. This one ticks all the boxes and it's very impressive that it wears so elegantly with 20% zinc oxide in the formula. I like to avoid the chemical ones, and I have found non-water-resistant mineral options that wear quite elegantly, but water-resistant options with an elegant wear had long eluded me. I'd love to always wear my favorite non-water-resistant spf, but unfortunately those are not so helpful for when you're at the beach/pool - on such days, I dread having to reach for the thick pasty gloopy water-resistant ones. I seriously wish I had found this sooner before spending on so many others that promised to be sheer zinc only to be the color and texture of white wall paint. My little one and I both have a medium brown skin tone so the chalky cast on most mineral spf turns us straight up grey/purple and worse yet, that grey purple cast lasts through multiple showers unless you seriously scrub it off your skin - not so great for kids or anyone with sensitive skin. So this one melts into the skin nicely with minimal effort and virtually no white cast. I probably wouldn't use it on the face as it's a little heavy for my oily/combo skin, but on a child's facial skin it would work just fine. It's not sticky at all, so if you're an adult with dry facial skin and/or don't mind a bit of dewiness, it could work on the face, too. I just prefer to invest in more lightweight elegant options for the face - and in general they seem to make more elegant formulas for the face in under 2oz sizes so they're not really applicable to the body, which is a bummer. While this isn't as small as the ones made for the face, since you need much more for the body, I wish it came in a 5oz size for the price. I have tested like 30 different mineral water-resistant options by now, and this one along with the C'est Moi sunshine sunscreen are the two best I've found. If price is a factor with this one, I would recommend checking out C'est Moi as it is similar in texture, also leaves no white cast, is also fragrance-free, is also completely zinc oxide formulation, and cheaper. Most importantly, if you have kids, this would make applying sunscreen on them much easier, since it's impossible to get kids to sit still for more than a couple seconds before they run off. This is great for all the people out there who have very sensitive skin. I have been really trying to up my game with sunscreen as this is SO important and hadn’t come across anything truly special yet. I didn’t want to give up but noticed that the sunscreens I had used before were either too drying or provided a white cast. I also didn’t want to spend a ton of money on 1 ounce of product to get what I was looking for - I found this brand and looked through all their various sunscreens and couldn’t decide. They have some which are more expensive than this one and give you less product probably because they are tinted but I want to mention that this particular one I am reviewing has NO WHITECAST. I mean it too. Just take the time to blend it. I myself am of color and continue to not have problems with blending this. Though this is a very moisturizing product that is greasy. So if you are of an oily nature, I would say just be aware that this is not matte by any means. I usually add a touch of powder on top but the shine is definitely not unbearable. I have quite dry skin and I am on prescription retinoids and and need all the moisture I can get. Overall, I cannot say enough good things about this product. As you can see from the pictures, I bought this product when there was still the old packaging. I recommended this to a friend and they picked it up too but received the new packaging and it works just the same - it blends into facial hair (especially beards) nicely - For a product containing such a high amount of zinc, it’s usually hard to avoid a whitecast but somehow Cotz managed to do it and very well to say the least. Please give it a try if you are unsure on which Cotz product to purchase, have acne/sensitive skin or are on a budget. Good work Cotz. Will continue to repurchase. Side note: you need to reapply your sunscreens, regardless of the brand or type, at least every two hours if outdoors and at least every three to four (pushing it) if indoors. I bought this sunscreen for my wife, and I must say she absolutely loves it. It features a complexion SPF 50 – a mineral sunscreen designed to safeguard sensitive, breakout-prone skin with 20% zinc oxide, all without leaving that unwanted white cast. She has been using it for about a year, and it has been effectively protecting her face from the sun. She even started applying it to my boys, and now they constantly request it. While the price is somewhat on the higher end for a sunscreen, I believe it is worth the investment. Read more
