COUGAR 700K EVO Cherry MX RED RGB Mechanical Gaming Keyboard

The media could not be loaded. This mechanical keyboard named 700K EVO from COUGAR has a attachable keyboard rest to place your palm comfortably. I don’t entirely sure what the keyboard rest is made of. It comes with COUGAR logo stickers, so, I applied them onto the 700K EVO to look nice. The switches are reds from Cherry MX. You can address the RGB in 3 lighting effects per modes on the keyboard through its software from the official website COUGAR Gaming. You have to download the keyboard’ software to address the RGB colors. The 700K EVO has 3 modes you can program to do. 3 lighting effects times 3 modes equals 9 lighting effects, that’s a good amount of lighting effects to choose without having to go to the application to change it. The G1, G2, G3, G4 and G5 are programable keys. They’re really useful for shortcuts keys that require two fingers to activate instead of one finger. It has media player you can use to play your favorite music. It even has a button where you can immediately go to the media player with a press of a button. I've had this keyboard for 13 months. Figured I'd review after a year. It's comfortable, not as noisy as other mechanicals which was a huge determining factor to select this one. The cherry switches have all held up. The sturdy aluminum frame sits firmly in place and is easy to clean when needed. Software is simple to use to make profiles. Now the bad. I've had a total of 9 blue LED's fail. I use the deep blue lights 95% of the time as I work nights, and when I'm home, I use that tone so it doesn't reflect off my monitor when gaming or watching something while still easy enough to see the keys. I can't say for sure, but I'd image the other LED'S would probably start failing if I used them jut as much. The ones that did fail are kinda random so it doesn't really interfere with anything I do. Came with Red switches, and not blue as initially advertised. I decided to change my review because of how happy I am with my keyboard. My only complaint is that one of the switches (for 6) is not properly in place, and is visibly higher than the rest. It also wiggles a bit if I pull it. Read more

Bought this keyboard because I became aware of Cougar after buying their Mars Desk. If you're looking for a gaming keyboard with RGB, you aren't going to be disappointed here. The hardware is fantastic and solid. The software isn't as wonderful as offerings from vendors like Razer or Corsair however. In fact, where those suites use a single software for all their accessories, with Cougar I had to install separate software for the keyboard and mouse each. A weird design choice. The controls for the RGB aren't as robust either, but that hasn't stopped me from enjoying the RGB features. Very solid keyboard overall. Read more
