Quality & Detail This is beautifully detailed and comes with the bonus artificial plants as described in the product description. The size and pictures are accurate. What you see in the product photos and as described is what you get. It really is as nice as the product photos make it seem. See my photo for scale and a look at the detail. In the photo, one square on the grid is one inch. Bubble Feature The castle has an attachment for an airline hose for bubbles with an airstone diffuser, so the bubbles will be fine and delicate, not huge bubbles blowing all over the place. This is a nice touch that creates a subtle effect without disturbing your fish or other decor. Tank Size I am currently setting up a 20-gallon tank and this will be the main centerpiece. It is large enough to be a focal point in that size of a tank, although I will be aquascaping with additional natural plants and rocks. See my photo for what it looks like centered in my 20-gallon tank. I think this ornament is a great size for 10-20 gallon tanks. In a 10-gallon tank, this with the provided artificial plants might be all you need to decorate your tank. It could possibly work in larger tanks, but keep in mind that it is only about 6 inches tall. In larger tanks, I think it is too big to be an extra, too small to be a focal point. Construction & Safety The resin material feels sturdy and has a flat, stable base as promised in the product description. The artificial plants are fairly soft, but obviously plastic - not as soft as natural plants. They are comparable to the standard artificial plants on the market in terms of softness, which I think is just fine for most people and their fish. Value This is nicely made and good value at the current price of $18 for the set. I'm impressed enough with this that I will be looking at what else the seller has for larger aquariums. TL;DR This is a beautifully detailed castle decoration that looks exactly like the product photos - the quality and detail are really nice. The included plants and airstone diffuser add value, and the 6-inch height makes it perfect as a centerpiece for 10-20 gallon tanks. The construction is solid with aquarium-safe materials. I’ve been having a terribly tedious time trying to establish my 10 gallon tank. If you’re tired of scrubbing neon-colored plastic every two weeks, this is the decor for you. The "Magic" Color Palette: The best part about this castle is the deep grey and earthy brown stone finish. Unlike bright white or neon decorations that look "fuzzy" and gross the moment a little algae starts to grow, the natural, dark tones of this castle actually camouflage it. A little bit of green film just makes the castle look more "ancient" and authentic rather than dirty. It saves me so much maintenance time! Design & Build Quality: Fish Safety: I was worried about sharp edges, but the cutouts are surprisingly smooth. My glo-fish and frogs swim in and out of the turrets without any snags. Size & Scale: It has a great presence without taking up the entire footprint of the tank. There are plenty of "windows" for water flow, so you don't get those nasty stagnant pockets of waste inside the structure. Weight: It’s heavy enough to stay submerged without needing to be buried deep in the substrate. It didn't budge even when my Corydoras were rooting around the base. Final Verdict It looks like a high-end resin piece but at a fraction of the cost. It adds a great "sunken kingdom" vibe to the tank, and the fact that it hides algae growth is a total game-changer for busy hobbyists. I also had gotten hammocks/leaves for my frogs to lounge on, in order to shorten their trip up to the surface. But I’d never seen them resting anywhere but the bottom of the tank. They have found comfort in this castle, claiming it as their own and spending lots of time hanging out in their fortress. It makes for great aquarium viewing. Read more
The CousDUoBe Aquarium castle and plants are amazing and very high quality! The castle is a dark gray and looks like it could be straight out of a scene from a rainy day in medeival Scotland. It has intricate life-like stone designs with natural stone textures and features like stairs, doors, windows and lookout towers. There is a cave carved out under the main tower of the castle that feels almost like a tunnel or secret passage where our new beta fish hides out and feels protected. It is made out of thick materials and has a solid weight to it where you don't worry that it could tip over inside of the aquarium. It is fairly large and actually takes up a good amount of space in our tiny aquarium. I may have to upgrade our tank to fit everything! The plants are also beautiful with various styles of leaves and colors. It adds a lot of vibrant decor to the aquarium and makes the tank more interesting for our fish. It was very easy to set up -- we just pushed the plants into the pebbles at the bottom of the tank and their base is wide and sturdy enough to keep them upright. I am very impressed with this set and it was exactly what we were looking for. Our fish now have a lively environment with places to hide and play in, which creates security, reduces stress and stimulates activity. I also love that the set is pollution free and doesn't effect the PH of the water. It definitely functions well and gives you peace of mind while in use. I rate this with 5 stars (or above!) and think it is very high quality for the price of everything that you get. Read more
