bought this Craig Compact DVD player because I found a box of DVDs in my attic and my modern TV doesn't have a slot for them. I tried to feed a Finding Nemo DVD into my HDMI port, but it didn't work. This amazing piece of technology, however, did! Pros: Ultra-lightweight: It weighs less than my TV remote. I can probably use it as a coaster when I’m not watching The Matrix. Nostalgia Factor: The loud, angry whirring noise it makes when it loads a disc reminds me of 2003. It's like a tiny, aggressive robot is in my living room. The Remote: It has buttons for things I don't understand, like "Zoom" and "Slow," which is great for analyzing movies frame-by-frame. Compatibility: Plays my burned CD-R from 2005 labelled "BEST MIX 4 EVER". Cons: It does not stream Netflix. The "progressive scan" feature mostly means it slowly progresses to scanning the disc, then pauses, then makes a weird noise, then finally plays the movie. If you are trying to relive the era of having to get up to turn a disc over, this is the machine for you. It’s small, it’s cheap, and it’s gloriously outdated. 5 stars, would recommend for a cozy, analog movie night. Read more

My wife & I are worship leaders at our "little" church; our 5 disc CD player has been threatening to bite the dust in recent weeks; after it refused the play a CD (after it had played it completely!), I decided to get something with decent reviews and that had its own volume control. This unit fits the bill for the most part, best thing is the price. Yes, as some say, it's a bit clunky sounding plus it auto shuts off a bit too quick for us, but it will do!! Works great and super easy to install! Took like less than a minute!!! Nice and compact. Plug-in play…plug it in and it’s ready to go! No need for HDMI, just change your source on your TV remote. I bought this DVD player in July 2025 to play family photos from the past. I used it twice, right away and it worked fine. I tried it 2 months later, and it would not play the same DVD that worked the first time. Life was busy, and I didn't use it again until January 2026. It still was not working and I was getting an error message that I needed to change the region. It was not clear how to do that, so I emailed the seller. The good news it they responded immediately and tried to solve my problem. I followed their clear directions and set the correct region. However, it still didn't work. We absolutely LOVE how this Craig DVD player is super lightweight, compact, and easy to carry upstairs to our rooftop deck, which is exactly what we needed. It plays DVDs and CDs with no issues, and the picture looks great on our TV. Plus, the HDMI upscales nicely, but note that the HDMI cable and AA batteries for the remote aren’t included. I purchased this compact DVD player for my MIL who is currently living in a very tiny efficiency. I wanted a compact player this is simple to use for a 70 year old. This really seem to be it. She really does best if she sticks to the basics. This DVD player actually provides a bit more features than just the basics, but it won't be too complicated to use. Update - it didn't work for her. First, it was really loud like you can hear the disk spinning loudly the whole time. Second, after getting it set up, she called and asked us why she can't hear anything even though the TV and DVD player had the volume all the way up. I haven't been over to see what happened, but the sound was fine when I installed it. So either something malfunctioned in a day of use, or it's too confusing for her to use and she pressed a button and doesn't know what she did. Either way, it's being returned. Read more
