This replacement steam lever is excellent quality and fits my Breville machine (BES870) perfectly. The ergonomic design makes it much easier to grip and control compared to the stock lever, giving me smoother steam control when frothing milk. The stainless steel finish feels solid and durable, and it matches the machine beautifully. Installation was simple, and the lever has held up well with daily use—no looseness or wear. It’s a small upgrade that makes a big difference in comfort and precision. Highly recommended for Breville owners who want a reliable, stylish, and functional replacement part. Read more

Keep in mind that this is primarily a cosmetic mod, with a modest functional improvement. Some complain about a wobble. Being a lever, if not used properly you are applying significant leverage to a component of the machine that is not designed/engineered for that. The switch mechanism in the Breville machine is mostly plastic and not anchored to the case. If you try to use the handle as you would the handle on a slot machine, you are applying too much leverage. Rather, use this as if it were an extended knob and not a lever. When I want to push it backward, I place my index and middle fingers on the back of disc portion and have my thumb positioned on the base of the lever, and push. When I want to pull it forward, I place my thumb and middle fingers on the front and back up the disc portion, and put my index finger on the base of the lever, and pull forward. When you used it this way, you will generate just enough small leverage to more easily change positions than with the stock knob. But not so much leverage that you are putting stress on the switch, and creating a wobble. The handle is a solid and heavy piece. It is very easy to install. It enhances the appearances of the machine, and makes it somewhat easier to change switch positions. If you have realistic expectations, you will be pleased. Installation is easy so don't let fear cause you to buy one of the cheap levers that attach to the knob. Read more

Nice solid, heavy handle. It does have some wobble because of the way the valve on the coffee maker works. Read more

I have been struggling to justify this with the fact that the knob is difficult to turn, blah blah blah. Finally I just decided to “own it” and say I love it because it looks cool. It’s cool to pull the lever back instead of twisting that stupid little knob. Is it worth what they charge? No. Am I unhappy I purchased it? Absolutely not. Would I recommend it to others? I love mine, but you have to answer whether is is right for you. As for what it is, it is as high quality as it can be. If felt good coming out of the box. It feels solid when I turn on the steam. It’s not necessary. You do this because you want to. The labor that it takes to install is kind of a right of passage too. It’s by no means a simple install. The videos make it look far simpler, and in truth it isn’t that tough. It’s just oddly tough for just installing a new lever. The screw holes in the back are simple enough, and they lul you into a false sense of security. The screws on the underside are recessed in some tights, deep holes, and it took me a while to find a screw driver that would do the job. Most of my screwdrivers have replaceable bits, and that won’t fit down the hole. My skinnier screwdrivers weren’t deep enough. When I finally had a bit skinny enough ti fit, the handle was too long to allow the bit to get in. Adding to the frustration, the screw in the area where the tamper goes has a reasonably strong magnet that wants to pull your screwdriver when you are trying to get it up there. Finally, the little plastic tab you have to depress to release the old handle make sense once you have it out, but I was just poking around blindly until it came out and was able to finally see what I should have been doing. None of this is the fault of the product but it is part of the experience. Once you have completed it, it will add to the pride you have in this little espresso machine that now has a cool, expensive handle, and you will likely love it as much as I do. Read more

TLDR: You don't NEED this, but if you're reading this you probably WANT it. I'm a huge fan of this steam lever upgrade. It's not necessary by any means, but for a machine that lacks the tactile satisfaction of levers and knobs this adds a little something to my milk steaming ritual. Quality is great, feels sturdy and it's very simple to install. Bought one for my sister when she got the same machine. Read more

I've had my Breville espresso machine for about three years and have always considered getting this lever, but I held off because it seemed like a luxury and not a need. That still may be the case since the standard Breville switch works fine, but wow! This thing works SO much better. It's so easy to move from steam to off, and it looks fantastic. When I first discovered this thing I watched some videos on how to install it, and to be honest, part of why it took me so long to buy one was because it looked difficult and I was afraid I'd break my machine. Those fears were totally unwarranted though because it's super easy to install and didn't take much time at all. Read more

had this knob for over 3 years now, and is one of my favorite non-brewing specific upgrades to the machine. The handle is heavy, and makes twisting the knob much easier. The knob is better quality than what it fits into, so you will need to apply consistent force upon removing the usual one on the machine, and after plugging the new one in you should be gentle moving it back and forth to avoid making the knob feel like it fits loosely. overall product itself is a great accessory.
