When I saw the ink separate I thought ok the pens come empty and it's part of the assembly of the pens. I was pleasantly surprised that each pen had ink and they were extras. I like this set because I can make 5 different colors of pens. They are easy to take apart and reassemble with the decorative beads. I have been making the pens to both sell and use as gifts.
