I didn't even know that glass files existed until I happened to notice an article on the 'wirecutter' website titled 'Everything You Need to Do Your Nails at Home'. One of the recommendations in that article was this glass file, with the comment made that 'unlike emery or sandpaper files, you can wash and sanitize glass files', also 'they are easier on the nails than traditional emery or metal files'. That was good enough for me, and I promptly placed my order here on Amazon for this file, which was the one they specifically mentioned. It is unusual to use such a different feeling file, after years of using the emery files, or metal files, and surprisingly it works quite well. The paper insert included with the file describes it as made of high quality tempered glass by permanent etched technology, and states that it is 'gentle and effective and never wears out or gets dull'. I'll need to take their word for it but if I do find, after using this for a longer period of time, that I find any problems or wear, I will return to this review and update it to note my longer term experience. What I most like is that the file surface 'won't be damaged if you want to disinfect or sterilize' it, advising 'normally just rinse out in warm water as often as you need'. Yes, it is made in China. i bought one of these a year ago, and I've been so pleased with it that I bought this one to carry in my purse. They are very well made and smooth down rough edges and do a good job of shaping. I am not sure what is meant by "sheer," but they don't pull or snag on rough edges and just do a great job. I had purchased, after the first one of these I bought, a package of similar files to give in gifts to friends. However, they were not nearly the quality of this one. Read more

These G.Liane glass nail files are similar to my Bliss Kiss glass files that I have that were recommended by Simply Nailogical. I'm also comparing them to Mont Blue files, which are virtually identical to Bliss Kiss, just a bit more economically priced. ETA: Just recently realized the difference between the glass files is that these G.Liane glass nail files are not Czech glass. That said, they work just about as well. The difference that I notice is how much thicker and heavier that they are. These G.Liane glass nail files are etched tempered glass and should last forever. I love that they came with a hard plastic case as I tend to drop things. The nail file is what’s most important, though, and these are a good quality tempered glass. However, they are smoother than my Bliss Kiss and Mont Bleu files and take longer to file down your nails accordingly. That is a pro and a con, as you might end up with smoother nails more easily. It's all how you use them. In addition, the G.Liane glass files are longer and thicker than Bliss Kiss and Mont Bleu, which makes them sturdier, but heavier. If you have nerve or gripping problems, you'll find the G.Liane glass nail files easier to hold and feel the weight of in your hand. So, again, both a pro and a con. Overall, I am pleased with the texture, size, and performance of these G.Liane tempered glass nail files. As the parent of kiddos with autism, there are causes near and dear to my heart.
