Cuisinart Coffee Maker 14-Cup PerfecTemp Programmable Coffee Machine Glass Carafe with 1-4 Cup Setting Brew Strength Control Brew

I am happy i purchased this unit. There were no reviews but I took a chance because of mixed reviews with other similar units. It makes great coffee. I love the gold filter because of convenience and full coffee flavor but you can also use a paper filter if you want. The controls are so easy. I was able to set the time, timer, finish chime, hot plate temp, and hot plate timer all with the center knob without the instructions. The display is larger than other Cuisinart units and the blacklight is not too bright. You can adjust the hotplate from L, M, H to control how hot your coffee is when you pour out. There is also an ice coffee feature that shuts off the hotplate when you brew so you can add over ice or add ice to the carafe and brew into the ice. This is a full 14 cup unit but the carafe seems to be of normal size. One design issue which at first seemed annoying, is the lid to the carafe does not hinge open. It snaps in place and is solid. I thought at first this was going to be frustrating when filling the carafe with fresh water. All other units I have owned were hinged, but after 2 weeks, It doesn't seem to be a problem anymore. There is enough room at the spout to fill the carafe and just remove it to clean the carafe. The unit looks nice and the buttons are marked with their purpose. Also the front is not cluttered with controls. It is very simple and attractive. One nice feature I noticed is when you are in process of brewing, the brew light dims and brightens off and on slowly as a visual indication of brewing and completed status. Also the display shifts from current time to hotplate countdown and if you desire a little more time to keep the coffee hot there is a +30 button to add 30 minutes to the hotplate timer. I wanted to give this 5 stars. Its very good looking and the fit and finish are excellent. The coffee brews as you would expect with every Cuisinart product fast and delicious. It is capable of high temperatures and perfect flavor extraction. The end result is a piping hot cup of delicious coffee. It is a better brewer than the DCC-3200 it is replacing. There are only two problems. First the water tank is not marked correctly and if you fill it to the max (according to the brewer window) you will have an accident as the pot will fill too much and spill onto the counter. This for me was a easy fix I just took my sharpie and added my own markings. Second, the new improved pot is not improved just new. Its not a bad design and its as good as most, just not as good as the Cuisinart 14 cup it is supposed to replace. It does not spill like others have said and it pours plenty fast, but it will always drip just one drip of coffee on my counter where the older design did not. I'm keeping mine because my older Cuisinart pot is an exact fit and I love the way it looks, works and brews. It does brew fast and it does make a great cup of coffee. Cuisinart if you are listening, all this needs to be the perfect brewer is accurate markings and the old pot. UPDATE: It only lasted 9 days and I woke up to find water on the counter. I turned off the machine and filled the tank to see if it was a leak or if I spilled the night before without noticing. Shortly after filling the tank, I here the machine start brewing. It was still OFF but apparently the water leak created a short and now it is brewing on its own but before it finishes brewing and still OFF, smoke starts pouring out of the base rapidly. We unplugged it and took it out to our driveway. If we were not home or if this had occurred over night it would have been an absolute tragedy. Buyer BEWARE! This is THE best coffee maker out there! It has a 4hr timer to keep the coffee hot; however, if you need more time, there's a +30min button that is available to add more time...which is super cool! Also, the temperature of the coffee is super hot, too (you shouldn't have to heat it up once you pour it to your coffee cup)! It has another cool feature...where the machine cleans itself! My 25 yr old Cuisinart stopped last week. Bought this item to replace it. No other brand considered. Has all the settings I want, easy to setup, and I had a fresh cup within 30 mins. Love the company, and to have it on my doorstep in 2 days meant a minimum of time using instant. 5 thumbs up all the way. Read more

The media could not be loaded. I bought “used” owing to price point. Unit arrived looking good. Beautiful looking but my chief concerns were that it vents steam out the back top of unit, which means steam is always hitting your cabinets. As the unit is large, I can’t pull it far enough forward to avoid blasting my cabinets with steam. I’d need to turn it sideways. Additionally the carafe design drips no matter how I pour. Made mess. I’m Bummed the functionality of it won’t work for me because it looks great in my kitchen. Read more
