Culoclean + Hydrapak Stow: a match made in potty heaven!
I love this set with all the colors. I don't care for black or blue (boring and meh) but I HAD to have the coral and had misplaced my yellow one. I also thought it would be nice to have a few extras to give as gifts. I have gifted it a few times. The bashful smile with lit-up eyes from the recipient is worth far more than the cost of the bidet itself. And, yes. I did. I wrote a nearly identical review for the Hydrapak Stow that I've just paired this with. But I'll post it here too because honestly, folks looking for the combination will more likely look here than for the bottle. I've been a big fan of Culoclean for some years. Have carried one backpacking with a poop shovel and a spare bottle for potty use only. It's a game changer and a life saver. They are sturdy, they work and they're really just perfect. You can't really get more discreet. The only issue in certain instances is...the bottle. The theory itself is genius. Just use any water bottle you have around. And I've done that and it's totally great. However there have been a few times when I was caught without an appropriate bottle in an interesting moment. So, the whole setup often necessitates carrying one. For backpacking, the volume of an extra bottle has never been issue. I just hang the poop shovel and bottle off my pack and they dangle happily along. The Culoclean gets tucked in a little side pocket. And I never leave home without it for travel. A small (half liter) Evian bottle fits in my toiletry bag, then I'm not stuck looking around for the right kind of bottle at exactly the wrong moment. But ever since Southwest eliminated free checked bags...ouch! We have a problem. The extra volume of the empty Evian bottle in my carry-on is suddenly an issue. And, to be honest, I'd started to fancy the idea of carrying a full "loo setup" in my purse while out of the house for a long day, sans poop shovel, of course, while traveling in civilization. But alas, a used, empty Evian bottle in a purse begs awkward questions or to be tossed out, as it closely resembles refuse. The Culoclean is totally the best invention. The best PAIRING, however, is with the Hydrapak Stow. Thank you from the bottom of my heart, and the bottom of my bum, to the redditor that suggested this combo. 1. First of all, weight and size. OMG. The whole thing when folded up is the size and weight of roughly a cork and two potato chips. 2. On the Hydropak, the little ring thingy is genius. Not only does it serve its intended purpose of holding the bottle together when it's folded up, it also functions as a hook to hang in a bathroom or on a tree branch, and as a handle to hold it and keep it off the floor of a public bathroom (eeeeew gross!) when being used in an urban space. 3. The seal with Culoclean is perfect. It's a bit snug to get in and out of the bottle top and requires a bit of shimmying/wrestling, but that's a good thing. It means it works and doesn't leak in the wrong places, so there's plenty of water pressure exactly where it's needed, and no disasters like falling apart and into the toilet while in use. 4. Other reviewers commented that it's hard to get the cork in the bottle without leaking. There's a solution for that. You sort of grasp the bottle neck (the only rigid part of the bottle) with your fingertips and cover the Culoclean spout with your thumb, while shimmying it down into the neck of the bottle. The bottle can still leak if you squeeze it at the wrong time, but hey, that's user error.π 5. When filled, it stands up reasonably well and stays put standing on the edge of a bathtub or countertop. I can't speak to how well it stays standing on a log as I haven't tried that yet. 6. Here's the kicker--I saved the best for last. At first, I thought convenience would be a tradeoff for usability. I assumed that the pressure wouldn't be very good because the bottle is soft-sided and I'd end up needing more water. Wrong! BECAUSE the bottle is soft-sided and just the right size to squeeze with one hand, it's actually faster, better pressure and thus more efficient (needs less water) than a typical bottle, which requires multiple squeezes with "a breath in" in between. With this combo, most of the time I don't even end up using all the water. Culoclean, make a note. You should seriously market this paired with Hydropak. You know, collect the full set! All the colors! My photos show it paired with the Hydropak in Sutro Green, which has gold writing on it. It pairs beautifully with both my Coral colored one and the Yellow one. I got this set because I had to have the coral. So pretty. I'd also suggest these colors: apple green, forest green, purple-blue and dark cherry red. Others have commented that Culoclean pairs nicely with the 350ml Hydrapak Stow. My usual "bathroom bottles" are 500 to 750ml, so I chose the Hydrapak 500ml to pair with my Culocleans. Incidentally I tried the 1 liter Hydrapak too, but it was too big, awkward, unwieldy and fell over. Besides, as I mentioned, because the bottle is soft sided and the right size for my hand, I needed less water than with a typical plastic bottle. A whole liter would be just overkill. I've been using this combo every day now since it came just a few days ago. I feel so smug and clean every time. With this combo, you too can enjoy the subtlest, most discreet and cleanest bathroom experience ever to be invented. :) Enjoy! Read more
