I ordered this for a different type of festive look. I ordered Navy and truthfully it looks like a dark brown/black , not navy. The material is a bit rough and scratchy - I'm thinking it will soften up as it gets washed, like flannel often does. It runs a little bit on the larger side, so you may want to double check the measurements and not just order your usual size. I really wanted to love this dress but it’s just not meant to be. I ordered it to wear as a tunic with leggings for cool weather and read all the reviews and studied the size chart prior to ordering. The XL would have fit my 38G chest best according to the size chart but all of the reviewers noted that the dress runs large with recommendations to size down. I did that and what a mistake! The size L dress will not even button around my chest. I had to leave the top two buttons undone to get it around me and it still pulls noticeably around my chest and back with no stretch to the fabric. I’m about equal in inches top and bottom and this dress is ample through the waist and hips. I tried it with a tank top underneath the open buttons but it’s not a look that I like; it just looks dumpy. This dress is made of a soft, lightweight, polyester/cotton/rayon flannel, almost like a nightgown; I imagine it would have been fabulous to wear in cold weather. I chose the green color which resembles navy and green Blackwatch tartan. All of the seams are well-stitched and serged with no raw edges or loose stitches. The buttons appear to be coconut shell which may explain the care instructions: the dress must be hand-washed or machine-washed in cold water on a delicate cycle and line-dried. So, perhaps the fabric was not pre-shrunk? It also cannot be ironed according to the label. Considering the dress came vacuum-paced in a plastic bag and was wrinkled upon arrival, it desperately needs an ironing. Had this dress fit me, I feel it would have been a go-to for cool weather. But I cannot recommend it for hourglass-shaped women because it runs small through the bust compared to the waist and hips. The complicated care instructions are also a negative; flannel should be able to go into the dryer for easy care, just like a nightgown. While I love the pattern and cozy material of this dress, the overall construction is not comfortable. The waist is strangely oversized, but then tight in the bust with no stretch. For size context, I am 5'3" and ordered a Size Large recommended for Bust 37.8-40.2 (Me: 38), Waist 29.9-32.3 (Me: 30) and Hip 40.6-42.9 (Me: 38). I should have gone with a Size Medium as this is too big and looks frumpy in all three areas. The color and material are fine and look nice. This is a cute dress. I'm hoping I can salvage it by throwing on a belt on the seam to cinch it in a bit. Read more
