Bought my daughter the cats flying kites backpack and I was AMAZED at the quality of this backpack. The fabric is super thick and has a buttery softness, but somehow repels dirt? She's been using this for about 7 months now and it still looks new. I love the large sleeve in the main compartment which holds her school chromebook. I also appreciate how thick the pull straps are that are attached to the zippers. They are easy to grab and very durable. I was also surprised to find a hidden pocket! It wasn't advertised and I stumbled upon it while adjusting the straps, but against the lower back I saw a little metal pull with an umbrella on it and it was a hidden pouch large enough to hold a quart size ziplock. Very sturdy cute book bag. My kids have other standard bookbag but the straps and zippers don't hold well. My child used this for a good few months and still looks pretty new. Love how the zippers have a thick long tassle (similar to key chains) as it is easier to open and close. The straps are also sturdy thick padded straps. The backpack has plenty extra pockets for writing material , books, and snacks. The side pockets also fit majority of the kids water bottle we use. My tween needs a 'theme' every year for her school supplies and "Dogs" were it this year! Such a cute backpack! The print is bright, the dogs can all be seen, and she has gotten lots of compliments on this. Straps are sturdy, and we have had no issues with the zippers. Padding is to be as expected for this price point (kinda there) and it is quite light. The pockets are decent. This is probably a better backpack for an elementary student; as for my middle school tween, it was difficult to fit everything she needed into it. So, for functionality for a middle schooler rating, I'd give this a 4/10. Overall, this is an adorable backpack and I would recommend it for any kiddo who doesn't have to carry 4-6 subjects and a band instrument. Read more
