Iβm 6 foot 3 and about 255 pounds with a muscular build, so finding a dress shirt that actually fits right is always a bit of a challenge. I ordered the 17.5 neck with 34 to 35 sleeve in the white and dune windowpane pattern, and this one really impressed me. The fabric feels different in a good way. It has this smooth, soft texture with a subtle sheen that catches the light just a little. It looks and feels high end without trying too hard. The shirt fits my frame almost perfectly. Plenty of room through the chest and shoulders, but it still tapers enough at the waist so I do not get that balloon look. I wore it to a client lunch with some navy dress pants and my Seamaster and got compliments right away. Even my date said I looked sharp, and a couple coworkers asked where I got it. That never happens with most shirts I wear. Yes, it is expensive, and I was honestly hesitant at first, but after wearing it a few times I feel like it lives up to the price. It irons beautifully, holds shape all day, and those metal collar tabs are a nice touch I did not expect. If you are built like me and want something that fits right and actually looks polished, this shirt really delivers. Read more

As a person who is usually more "dad chic" than designer, it's still a nice feeling to have nice things now and then, so I decided to try this shirt. It's a very nice shirt, with decent fit. Being 100% cotton, it's quite comfortable. However, the collar is not great; the shirt bunches up oddly below the rear of the collar and near the top button as well. Maybe washing will settle it down, but as nice as it is, I won't be wearing it if it stays this way, and it's definitely not a good value for me at over three times the price of an average dress shirt. And for that price, it doesn't even have a chest pocket -- though it does come with fancy metal collar stays, which was unexpected. The only reason I'm only knocking off one star instead of two is because even though it has issues, it still looks and feels pretty darn good. Still, if you're looking for a fancy designer shirt, you may want to continue looking. Read more

The material that this shirt is so fantastically created from has a sheen and an almost invisible micro texture of tiny dot like indentations that makes the shirt move and ripple like skin instead of fabric. I do not know any other way to describe the otherworldly texture and appearance of the fabric. When I wear this shirt I often find myself starring at the pattern and weave of the cloth because it is like no other fabric I have ever seen. The shirt is cut well and this is truly a power shirt that other men compliment and I feel completely confident and in charge when I wear this shirt even if I am only going to the grocery store. The collar tabs are very high end and this is the only shirt I have ever owned that came with metal collar inserts. I was really sceptical about a shirt that costs this much and if it would actually be worth the money, and since wearing it several times I can say that yes, this shirt is totally worth the money due to the way it looks and feels and it irons beautifully. Knife edge creases without starch that last all day! Read more

Standing at 6β0β and weighing 200 pounds of solid muscle, I need a dress shirt that respects my proportions without swallowing them. The David Donahue Regular Fit Long Sleeve Dress Shirt in Windowpane Plaid (White/Dune, 17" neck, 34"-35" sleeve) is a perfect match. Its regular fit accommodates my broad chest and powerful shoulders without straining at the buttons, while tapering just enough to avoid the dreaded balloon look around the waist. The windowpane plaid pattern is subtly assertive, featuring clean lines and neutral tones that enhance my size without overwhelming it. The Pima cotton fabric breathes well, retains its shape, and moves with me seamlessly from client meetings to after-hours events without showing wrinkles. The shirt is a visual standout. The dune shade complements my natural tan, while the soft white enhances my traps and chest, inviting second glances. I paired it with tailored navy trousers and my Omega Seamaster during a Friday client lunch. Not only did my date comment on how sharp I looked, but three colleagues also asked where I got the shirt. Thatβs the kind of presence this piece provides. Itβs quietly confident, refined, and unmistakably masculine. Read more

High-end 100% cotton dress shirt that feels as good as it looks. Smooth fabric almost has a polyester sheen, but with a soft, luxurious feel that only comes from cotton. Material is thin and breathable, but still suitably opaque. Seems to have some natural wrinkle resistance, but still looks best after ironing. Collar is stiff and sturdy out of the box and lays flat - looks sharp and starched with or without a tie. Subtle David Donahue branding on the front placket - won't be seen unless the shirt is untucked. Fit is more or less true to size - the neck is a little snug compared to other 16.5 dress shirts in my closet but not uncomfortably so. "Regular fit" has plenty of room to accommodate broader shoulders and a little bit of a dad bod belly. Clean, sharp fit overall suitable for all sorts of body types. The retail price still gives me pause. It's a fair price given the quality and craftsmanship, and the look and feel are certainly as luxurious as the price tag. Whether it's worth it is really a personal decision, dependent on things like one's profession, what occasion one has to wear it, etc. Not everyone needs or appreciates a luxury dress shirt, but if you do this is a great option.
