Death Wish The Face of Death

I saw Death wish the original on Netflix. Then searched for the rest of the series. Death Wish 3 was over the top and not realistic. Death wish 5 was realistic and enjoyable. Nice ending. Paul Kersey started out as revenge killer for the death of his wife. Later he continued. I have to admit he is very unlucky in love. All the women die. In this the final , he is an accomplished killer and the last person you want to tic off. A simple crime boss was out of his depth. Read more

Charles Bronson always played a good vigilante in his movies and the "death wish" series still holds up. He played an unlucky in love and life type who's wife, daughter and later his girlfriends always died at the hands of the enemies...this one had the great actor Michael Parks who could play sleezy with the best of them as Bronsons latest foe. Kino Lorber Studio Classics releases on Blu-ray (courtesy of its deal with rights holder Lionsgate) "Death Wish V: The Face of Death" (1994), the last film in the series that sees Charles Bronson return as vigilante Paul Kersey, here forced out of retirement when his girlfriend/fiancée (Lesley Anne Down) is targeted for death after her ex-husband and New York mobster boss (played by Michael Parks) wants her silenced and to regain sole custody of their daughter Chelsea. Kersey though knows exactly how to take down his gang with a vengeance and retire for good (so he hopes). Looking quite good actually in HD, a massive upgrade over the ancient and threadbare Full Screen TriMark DVD, now including an audio commentary by Paul Talbot, author of two books on Charles Bronson, plus its theatrical trailer and several others with the star. Set in New York but filmed in Toronto, disappointing finale to the franchise is uninspired and slow, though still violent. Bronson looks bored but give him credit for being game here at least considering his age (70+) A better idea would have been to see Kersey on a monastic retreat in his retirement, though the witness protection program he seems to be involved in could still be an entanglement of some kind. To see him in the fashion world because of another doomed love interest seems too absurd and incongruous to me! Also check out the 4K UHD + Blu-ray for the first and best Death Wish (1974) that Kino Lorber Studio Classics released via their Paramount Studios deal, which finally did that film justice on home media also with an audio commentary with the same author and multiple trailers and radio spots. How do I sum up the career of an actor who's fame came late in his life...during his youth or "Prime" ..lol.. He co-starred in many movies...Then when he married his second wife the late Jill Ireland ..was when his fame really soared ..and they appeared in 15 motion pictures together.. He was also paid 1 million dollars a film ..back then that was a lot of dough..if this is 2020 and a gallon of gas is 3.32 regular here in Ca. Can you imagine how cheap it was in the 1970's during his hey-day and how far 1 million after taxes,agents,etc were paid.. Well Death Wish is one of my favorites of his..as well as "The Mechanic,Mr.Majestyk" etc.. There is something about him when he plays in the earlier ...Death Wishes... It make me laugh at all of us who were bullied as little kids... Now this is no way to handle a bully..kids.. Violence doesn't solve anything ..somethings you must let go... When he died in 2003 ...I was really busy with a personal trauma..that I missed the announcement of his passing... He was like his salary back in the day... One in a million...
