Adequate for writing; abysmal for sword fighting
There is an old saying, "the pen is mightier than the sword." These pens did not live up to that adage. As pens go, they were very adequate - kind of like a pencil but with ink instead of lead. I found them to be very comfortable in my grip. Also, they weigh almost nothing, so I could barely tell they were there when fastened to my belt. But their durability was very poor in the midst of battle. Rarely were they able to parry the thrusts of an opponent with even the smallest of swords. Worse, the length of the pen did not extend my reach very much, opening me up to counter attacks from my enemies. I found that that pens never leak when being used as writing implements, but they spray ink everywhere when they are sliced in two by a broadsword. The description claims they are "no bleed" but I definitely bled a lot after trying to defend myself in a sword battle with one. I think for my next campaign of conquest, I'll consider getting a pen made of metal instead of plastic. These pens are perfectly great for writing - they function very adequately. I'm pretty sure you could use them to write in any language that you know how to write in - if you don't know other languages you'll need to learn them first.
