It appears that the hinge assembly is very delicate and will not tolerate opening from the edges without damaging the laptop. Always open from the middle and do not lift using the screen when opens. CAREFUL! I bought this Dell laptop on Amazon on February 24, 2025, and received it just a few days later. So far, I’m impressed with the performance—the computer runs fast, the touchscreen is responsive, and the overall build feels sturdy. The sound is decent too, especially after a full round of updates (which took almost a full day to complete when I first set it up). However, I’m writing this review to share something important that buyers should know. When I checked the warranty on March 4, I found that there were less than six months remaining—even though I had just bought the device. After contacting Dell, I learned that the warranty started when the third-party seller originally purchased the laptop, not when I did. So, even though this was a new, unopened product, the warranty had already been ticking down for months. This detail wasn’t clearly mentioned on the Amazon product page. I had no idea buying from a third-party seller on Amazon could mean getting a product with an almost expired warranty. In my opinion, this should be more transparent. It’s something I definitely wish I had known ahead of time. Other notes: the battery life is on the shorter side, and the fans are constantly running—so it’s not the quietest laptop out there. But in terms of speed and features, it’s a solid machine. The touchscreen is smooth and responsive, and everything else feels like good quality. As a computer science major it has definately satasfied my needs so far, and this is 6 months after purchasing it Bottom line: Great laptop, but double-check the warranty details. Just put this Dell in service (always used HP) and I LOVE IT !! Great quality fit and finish. Light weight with great battery live so far. Easy to configure with all my old stuff (most all transfered right to my home page once I got on WIFI) Dell is a good bit less expensive for the same unit but NO sacrifice for speed or storage space....
