What a surprise!

I was familiar with Dell latitudes and I was anxious to purchase this one even though it was refurbished. When I received it, I noticed there was not a scratched on the case, none of the keys were worn, the ports were clean. I doubt this machine was ever used. I know this is a quality, work horse machine and I think I was lucky to get one that is in excellent condition for being refurbished. Read more

Solid purchase

CustomerAugust 21, 2025✓ Verified purchase

After a week+ of use, I'm really happy with this purchase as a backup/mobile counterpart to my primary work computer. Some things to know: 1. "Refurbishment" seems to have included sticking a textured vinyl skin over most surfaces that would show wear (lid, palm rest, track pad). This doesn't bother me and in fact I find it pretty nice; the overall effect is a new-looking and feeling laptop. I can see how someone with more exacting standards might not like it, but if you're setting the bar that high, you probably shouldn't be shopping at this price point. 2. I had to change some BIOS settings and re-install Windows to get BitLocker set up. Fortunately, it auto-detected a product key and I didn't need to reach out for an authentication code. Just be aware that if you require specific features, you might need some know-how to get them to work. 3. Screen brightness is actually very good, I am able to use this laptop outdoors, which was one of my main use cases for buying it. 4. Battery life is what you'd expect, a few hours at full screen brightness, more if you are trying to minimize power consumption. Overall, I think this was a really good buy and I'd recommend it to anyone who needs a reasonably-powered computer for work or study. Read more

EDIT: Memory failure 3 months after purchase.

CustomerDecember 14, 2024✓ Verified purchase

EDIT: Memory failure 3 months after purchase. Should have expected this. Seriously, it's only $200, it's an 8th gen i5 with 16 gigs of ram and a 500 gig SSD running Windows 11 with a 1080p display and exceptional battery life. If you want a laptop that just works then you absolutely CANNOT beat this deal, it's fast enough for any basic tasks you throw at it and with the 16 gigs ram it absolutely runs like a champ. This is NOT a gaming laptop. This is NOT a top-tier fancy machine. This does NOT have a touchscreen. This is NOT a UHD display. If you need all that crap then go spend $1800+ on a new top tier notebook. If you just need a laptop that can interface with all your car tuner software, run the projector at work, run all your streaming movies, do all your run of the mill office software tasks, browse the web, check your email, handle all the basic day-to-day things you might need a laptop for then this is your boy. Cheaper than a chromebook, faster than a chromebook, more versatile than a chromebook. This was THE generic office notebook from three years ago, refurbished, so it's incredibly discounted. I don't know what else to say, this is the machine you were probably looking for. Read more

Like New

Honestly if you didn't tell me I would have thought this computer was new. It is absolutely impeccable. Not a blemish of even a dirty spot on it anywhere. Booting up for the first time is exactly like receiving a new computer as well. Windows 11 Pro booted up and launched into preparing the computer for a new user. Kudos to these people for doing such a wonderful job! Read more

An Honest Review... VERY DISAPPOINTED ABOUT THE CRAPPY SSD INSTALLED...

Gregory LewisNovember 15, 2024✓ Verified purchase

I just needed a basic laptop with Windows 11 on it for personal home use, and I didn't want to spend a lot of money right now, either. I found this laptop here on Amazon, and I was pretty impressed with what I read about it, and I placed the order for it. Unfortunately, the laptop that I received doesn't have a built-in 720p web camera, or a backlit keyboard, as it was advertised to have. However, that stuff is of no big deal to me personally, however it could be a big deal to other people. I opened the bottom of the laptop to see what it has inside of it. I found a CR2032 coin battery in it, and I thought that Dell moved away from that by now, but no Dell didn't. I found the main battery. I found that the RAM was upgraded from the original 8 GB to 16 GB. And I found that the original 7200 RPM SATA 2.5 inch mechanical hard drive was upgraded to a very generic 512 GB SATA 2.5 inch SSD. Unfortunately, the refurbisher installed a used SSD in the laptop. Using Linux, I discovered that the SSD is well over 4 years old and it's basically garbage and it's on its way out. So I bought a brand new 2.5 inch, 2 TB SSD and I installed it. I reinstalled Windows 11 Professional back onto the machine and it's a whole lot better now. I won't have to worry about the SSD crapping out on me any time soon! I also found that the 4G/5G cellular connectivity card is missing or simply not there, so I assume that's on me to figure out what I want to install for that. There seems to be a slot to install a different type of SSD, maybe an M.2 type, rather than having the SATA 2.5 inch SSD. I'm not sure if I can install a M.2 type SSD and install a normal mechanical hard drive at the same time, though. I was hoping to use the Windows 11 OS on the SSD, while using a mechanical hard drive for repetitive downloading and deleting of things. Maybe it isn't necessary to do that anymore with the latest advancements in SSD technology now. I looked at the laptop and it didn't have any major scratches or dings in it, and I did like that. The laptop I received was manufactured in 2018, so it's actually pretty old by today's standards. For the inexpensive price that I paid for this laptop, I still faired very well. I'm very happy with it. I'll upgrade the RAM to the max. 32 GB limit. I'll buy the cellular connectivity card that I need for the laptop, and subscribe it to my cellular network carrier unlimited data plan, and I'll buy a Wi-Fi 6 compatible wireless card for it, if available. The laptop should be upgraded to its fullest capacity in every possible way for me to be even happier with it for how I will use it. I'm not a gamer, so I won't use it for gaming purposes. The laptop will not work well with the powerful games that's out there these days anyways. A much more expensive and dedicated gaming laptop is used for that stuff. I also don't do any business stuff with a PC, either. This laptop is still a very capable business machine that still has excellent security abilities. I am not a student and I'm not in college or anything, so I wouldn't use this laptop for those purposes, either. The laptop is still very capable for students, though. For the approximately $200 that I've spent for this Dell business laptop, I received Windows 11 Professional, and it was upgraded somewhat. It is still a very capable and secure machine, and I got a good laptop for the money I paid for it. Is it the best? No. Is it brand new and of the latest available technology in the motherboard? No. For me it will work just fine for web surfing, social media, and for watching YouTube videos, and stuff like that. I'll also use it to watch the downloaded movies and music that I have, too. That's pretty much it. For what it is, it will suit my needs just fine, especially when I get the further upgrades done to it myself. However, I am VERY DISAPPOINTED by the 4 plus year old SSD that the refurbisher or whomever installed in the machine. The new 2 TB SSD that I purchased cost me an additional $130, which isn't a bad price. A new 512 GB SSD would cost much less... between $30 to $70, depending on what you get. So beware of the SSD or the HDD of any refurbished machines. You should automatically replace it with a brand new SSD or HDD, and I didn't know that until I bought this machine. It also would have been nice to have the maximum RAM limit installed. If the machine has a brand new SSD, and if it has the maximum RAM limit installed, I would have gladly paid more money for it to compensate that cost to the refurbisher. Just saying. Outside of that, I'm still very happy with this machine, even though I will have to upgrade it myself to meet my person satisfaction and for my personal needs. Read more

Works as advertised for a reasonable price. Get it.

This laptop works just fine for an affordable laptop. It is not overly fast, but adequate for basic functionality like surfing, e-mail, spreadsheets, iTunes. Battery life is good. It's not too heavy, the screen is plenty bright, but not exceptional. Storage at 512GB is adequate for most people, but if you're going to load it with photos or videos, you will need an external drive. Note this is loaded with Windows 11 so it's not one of the older ones that can't be upgraded. As a refurb, no issues but you may not be able to find it. If you can find more, it is a great buy for a basic laptop. Read more
