After reading favorable reviews from previous purchasers about environmentally friendly Dental Lace Dental Floss, I bought this item. It is just as the reviewers described. The Mint flavor is pleasant and not overwhelming. It works as well as any other dental floss. I do find that it sometimes breaks when going between tight spaces in back of my mouth, but that is not a deal breaker. The breaking in tight spots doesn't happen often and may be due to my rushing and not being careful with flossing technique. I feel that this was a quality purchase. It is helpful in reducing my plastic impact, because I can recycle the little plastic bag the refill comes in at my Grocery store dropoff and can recycle all the other items in regular recycling. Yes, the floss breaks/shreds a bit more easily than regular floss but it isnβt so much more so that it ruins the project or makes it unusable by any means. I just have to be a bit gentler with it while flossing and then I have no issues with it tearing. Itβs definitely worth trying to help the environment what little I can. I experienced no issues with it slipping back in the jar. I will only use this floss from now on. Great product that is totally worth not throwing dangerous plastic string into our oceans. Read more

Ok, let me begin with stating that I was beyond excited to try this product out. I mean, leaving less of a carbon footprint with this biodegradable, refillable floss was a dream come true. That dream quickly turned into a nightmare when I learned that this floss snaps all the time. I would say spacing between my teeth is normal, aka they are all snug against each other with no big gaps, and maybe a few teeth that are sitting very tightly next to each other where it is hard to get in with the floss, but just a few! When I use this product, I can never floss my entire mouth with just one string of floss, it ALWAYS breaks once, or sometimes even twice before I am able to go through all of my teeth. In addition, this floss is slightly thicker than your regular synthetic nylon floss, so I ended up popping my crown off one night when going at it with the floss. Now maybe, it was due to my flossing technique where I go up and down with the floss, and not down and pull out. But nevertheless, if crown coming off was just one problem, i would take all the blame on myself. But the fact that this floss constantly breaks and I have to replace the string two or three times is beyond frustrating. I never had this issue with regular nylon floss. Maybe if your teeth a spaced more apart it will work just fine without breaking. Read more

This stuff is amazing. I really wanted to try a more a eco-friendly alternative to the plastic Glide floss I have always bought. I ruminated on buying this for months though, researching eco friendly for floss ad nauseum, because of the mixed reviews. I finally pulled the trigger (after reading that other big brand floss contains teflon, which I was horrified to find out), and I am so happy that I did! Firstly I hate overly minty flavored floss, and I found the mint flavoring on this one to be very subtle and not fake and saccharin, like the flavoring on a lot of big brands. Second, this floss is just as sturdy as the glide floss that I had been using...I've used it several times, have tight teeth, and am pretty religious with flossing...it has yet to break on me. I also thought it seemed to do a better job cleaning that my other floss. The extra spool that it comes with, appears to come in a small plastic bag which according to the reviews is upsetting to people.... However, If you look up the brand you'll find out that this is not a plastic bag and is actually biodegradable. I never thought I would write such a lengthy review for dental floss but I can't help it---it's environmentally friendly, it works really well, and I really encourage everyone to make the switch. It works really well, and I love the minty flavor. My only gripe is that my teeth are tight so when I go to floss my back molars the floss is prone to breaking and getting stuck. Not the end of the world. Will continue to buy Read more

I bought this because of the ecological benefits - lack of plastic, reusable container, etc. Unfortunately my teeth shred this floss like itβs made of wet noodles. From other reviews I see some others donβt have this problem so I have to conclude that my teeth are pretty tightly spaced [or just really sharp ;) ]. I havenβt had this issue with other flosses so Iβd have to say that if your teeth are also tightly spaced this might not be the best option for you. I started using a plastic dental floss-pick that we bought years ago for my son when he had braces and one of those lasted me about four months! I have to wonder what the overall resource consumption would be between this floss and one of those disposable floss picks given their durability. And why isnβt ALL floss made to last that long? I think we know the answer to that. Read more

This is probably about as good as an all-natural, biodegradable, chemical-free floss can get. The hint of mint is nice, and the floss itself does a nice job. When it doesn't break -- it's tough to finish flossing without it breaking even if I triple up the floss and slide it very carefully. But that's not a knock against this brand; it's just going to be a limitation for anything that's not ultra-strong. The only floss that works for me is the high-strength teflon-coated variety, which sadly appears to contain pfoa's. But if you don't have ultra-tight teeth, this floss would be great. Read more
