I used to suffer from the worst kind of pimples, the ones near your mouth. To make it worse is that I'm not prone to acne at all so the only pimples I would get were either right next to my lips or within a 2 inch range from them on my cheeks and chin. So embarrassing as you can imagine. I read that it could be a result of fluoride toothpaste so I started looking for fluoride free toothpaste, might as well get sls free also to see whatever will help. I have never gotten a single pimple from day 1 of using this toothpaste and I have used it for exactly a month now, I used to never go more than a couple days without getting 2 - 3 pimples on chin, cheek, or next to lips. I didn't change any face washing habits, only my toothpaste. I am so in love with this toothpaste and I am confident now. And my gums have never been so pink in my life, my husband too his gums are beautiful, perfectly pink. I had the fennel flavor and I would say it's like licorice, mostly not a taste at all but really just a strong smell that makes it seem like a taste, very easy to get used to within a couple days and after a week it's not noticeable at all. And my husband and I are extremely picky about tastes and smells so if we were able to get past it then I think anyone can, it's not nasty just strong licorice scent. Ok, so my paranoia about ingesting fluoride every day brought me to this toothpaste originally but I really love licorice so the fennel flavor totally rings my bell. Really excellent taste! But the best thing is that after a year or so of using it I suddenly (and without prior notification) noticed; gee whiz Wally, my teeth are really, really white! Didn't do anything extra to whiten them. Didn't happen overnight. Didn't think about it at all and then; hey-presto: white teeth! Like I said, it took a year but my teeth are really healthy looking now and I am the apple of my dentist's eye. Could be the baking soda in it. I don't know. It's a tad abrasive. I don't drink tea or coffee or smoke so that makes a big difference too. And despite the fear mongering by the ADA, my teeth have not fallen out or corroded down to little stumps for the lack of fluoride either. So kicking the fluoride habit seems to have been a very positive move. One more reason to despise and mistrust governmental and `nominally' authoritative bodies... :) I don't know if enamel renews itself or not. Maybe I'll use a fluoride free toothpaste that isn't abrasive at all for a while to give my enamel a chance to recover a bit- if wearing it down is indeed the reason for the whiteness. Gotta research that a little bit. But I don't think that using toothpaste this abrasive for the rest of my life would necessarily be a good thing. So far though, this stuff has been really great!
