I wasted years trying to scale our business on the wrong structure. We seemed to be doing all of the right things. At first I didn't even recognize that we had an issue with our structure. Once I understood the principles of good organization design, I could finally spot the root causes of our problem. We've aligned our team, unleashed their potential, and are finally seeing our business scale the way it should. This book is a successor to his prior Organizational Physics and is written to be even more actionable for scale CEOs. I found the anecdotes to be relatable and the step-by-step exercises to be actionable. As a former client of his consulting business I see that he's distilled many of his advisory services into a self-serve format in this book. As entrepreneurs, we fear hitting a plateau and seeing all of our hard work evaporate. Save yourself the heartache and put this book into practice while you still can! Read more

I have read all of Lex's books and this one does a great job recapping and expanding on his Organizational Physics philosophy. It's a must read for any executive or leader who is serious about scaling up their business and creating a high-performing organization. His advice is easy to follow, practical and delivered in a way that you can customize it for your particular circumstances. As an senior executive actively trying to scale up a business, I know first hand that following Lex's processes and frameworks within the book, will help to add value to organization. In particular, pay attention to the way your organization is structured. Again, I can't say enough about this book other than I highly recommend that you read it. Read more

I've read a lot of business books, many of which make you feel good with no real practical application. Others have amazing concepts but repeat the same message for 300 pages. This book is different! It is a business strategy book rooted in compelling science, written for immediate application, and doesn't waste any of your time - it's get to the point, stays there, and walks you through exactly how to design a business to scale and maximize this structure with effective meeting rhythms and commitments. MUST read for any business owner, CEO, HR leader, or anyone leading a broad team. Read more

Roundtrip is a mission-driven growing SaaS company. We learned of Organizational Physics as it aligns to how we run our organization: according to the data. When Designed to Scale was announced, I ordered an advanced copy as I couldn't wait, and Lex hit the ball out of the park again. The PSIU framework makes all the sense, and we are able to align his content to the organizational models and frameworks we already adopted (like EOS and DISC profiles). I had the opportunity to connect with the author to further tease out his approach to structure. I feel confident where we are headed with our company and credit Lex and his written word. Read more

I'm a paranoid entrepreneur and am constantly learning so that we can sustain (or event accelerate) growth. Every stage of our business as forced us to reinvent how we organize - and generally we were late in making those shifts. Lex does an amazing job laying out how to think about the principles of a growth-oriented organizational structure. He also articulates where most people (including me) fall on their face and how to remain agile. This is a MUST read for any entrepreneur, regardless of the stage of their business. I wish I had read this book years ago! Read more
