Genuine Dewalt battery! Non OEM packaging however (don't purchase for gifting). It was surprising looking at the batteries for Dewalt and how there were NO options for direct from Amazon. Here is what I interpret the situation to be. First off, this battery at 2 amps is 1/2 the capacity of a "normal" 4a and 1/3 the capacity of a 6a. Retail pricing, however, does not scale and in fact you will see "games" get played by Dewalt. Here is the breakdown that you would see at your "big box" store: 2a (compact) - $99 4a (compact) - $129 4a (larger) - $76 6a - $129 Pricing is further more complicated by looking at battery bundles: (2) 4a compact - $79/each 2a + 4a + 6a = $110/each But the biggest options are tool combos that are sold at a significant discount and include batteries. Why am I talking about this? Simple. An authorized seller of this 2a battery in clamshell packaging is never going to be able to sell below the $99 or so. However, you could see how a legitimate, brand new battery could be purchased as part of a larger combo. The battery I received was in an Amazon bag, but clearly is genuine. The amount of detail Dewalt puts on these batteries now to combat fraud with inset text and QR codes and such makes it such that you KNOW that it's real. I was able to register it as well. Read more
