Too much Thyme on my Hands
This is fine for this value, but it does take a good bit of time for it to get a read-out. Know that you'll have to wait about twenty seconds before you get a result. Otherwise, it seems fine. It's helped me in the kitchen. Read more

Inaccurate temperature measurement
Fails at the one thing it’s designed to do - measure temperature accurately. I put it in boiling water and it took 30 seconds to approach 207 F. Should have read 212 F. I let it cool to room temperature. My home thermostat reads 74 F and this thermometer read anywhere from 65 to 80 F within a 3 ft radius. Then, I put it in an ice bath and it read anywhere from 22 F to 34 F depending on movement in the bath. It should have read 32 F. For reference, I purchased a different digital thermometer on Amazon which advertised +/-2 F accuracy. It was within +/-1 F at the extremes and matched my home thermostat at 74 F. Didn’t the manufacturer verify that this worked before selling it? My finger would be a better thermometer. Read more
Slow reading
Honestly you get what you pay for, esthetically pleasing but very slow to read. Takes a a while to read temp but it does work. I’ve made it work by placing it into my sourdough loaf while scoring the next. By the time I’m done scoring the read will be done. Read more
Good Little Thermometer
It was delivered earlier than expected. I use candy thermometers a lot, and they end up with the mercury separating, so I make it a point to have several on hand as a backup. The item is as described. I like it, especially the on/off button. Switching from F to C is easy. At one point, the window had condensation. I felt it was inferior, acting as an impetus to write a one-star review to NOT BUY, but now, it is gone. Maybe because of leaving it on the windowsill and the sunlight. In any event, I'm now whole.
