This was a surprise to me... a very nice quality device, which works well, and as advertised, for about $20. The sound is adequate and understandable with the small speaker, but when you transfer the files to your computer, you can hear that they are of a very good quality. I tried both the 512kbps it is set to out of the box, and the highest 1536kbps. There does seem to be a quality improvement... and with this 16GB version, that is supposed to hold 24 hours of audio. I also tested renaming the audio files while connected to the computer, and it does allow this. Your rename shows up on the recorder's screen, as you can see in one of my pictures. This is a VERY handy feature, if you are out in the field and need to find a file. But the best thing about this is the ease of use: You flip on the slide switch, then press "record", and you are good to go. Then when you finish, you press "SAVE". The list of all your files appears and you can quickly scroll them, and play which ever you want with another press of "PLAY/PAUSE". It may sound silly to point this out, but I've used a couple of more expensive, name brand units, and I often find myself needing a refresher course in recording, saving, and playing... they make you go through so many other steps for those very simple tasks. The quality is wonderful, too... although that cheap chrome plating is something I've never like on "import" electronics. But the case seems to be metal, and nicely finished. This has a very nice feel to it, all around. As people point out, it is very small. Well I have large hands, and have no problem with it. I was also surprised to see this being used in the new Netflix production, "The Beast in Me", with Claire Danes. She plays a successful writer in the series. Clearly this is some iteration of this same device... I would have expected the choice of some super-high end recorder, but they used this one... I would imagine considering the look and quality just fine for the part. All in all, I am not only impressed with what you get for the price, but even if this was a more expensive unit, with "Sony" or "Olympus" on it, I would appreciate the quality, features, and sound. Great little recorder! Very small. Easy to use and figure out. I use it for song ideas on my guitar. Picks up sound very well according to where you place it. I don't crank up my amplifier for ideas(loud enough for practice at home), so I don't know if it picks up louder playing. Plays back sound loud enough to hear well on its internal speaker. Works just fine for what I need. I recommend. Read more
For the price and for the purpose of recording lectures or voice notes, it's pretty good. Note that the sound is monaural and seems to focus on the higher frequencies, so not a high fidelity item. Recorded two hours of audio with no problem. Looks are not impressive, but acceptable for the price. Read more
Wow, very clear audio! I wasn't expecting that out of such a small recorder. I will be buying more of these for paranormal investigations! Even when I am 6 feet away from the device. I can hear myself clearly. Great for any use but check with law regulations before recording anyone's voice. Photo is for size comparison. Very well made. Easy to use. You can connect it to a computer with ease to transfer your audio or music. Read more
Not great, not awful. I got some good use out of it and it helped me understand I really like having a dedicated voice recorder, for a low investment. But eventually the USB-C data transfer function stopped working. Now, to me it's trash and I'll be buying a higher quality device. The battery does not last overnight if left on. It's slow to boot, and the menu controls are also counterintuitive. But hey, it works and its $20. Pros: very cheap, very small, totally usable audio quality for voice recording and playback. Cons: awkward menu controls, boot up time is too slow for me, battery life <8hrs even if not in use (just while on), low quality parts (failure of critical functions after a while) Read more
Works great. Very small but it is great for pants pocket or center console in car. Read more
I bought it to record classes and not miss any details. I also record phrases and verses for my poems, since sometimes I don't have a pen and paper handy. It records conversations perfectly. Remember to press the save button to save each idea; it's important. I also like it because it's discreet. When I used to record with my cell phone and a call or message came in, the recording would be interrupted and it wasn't the same. That's why I opted for this wonderful recorder. I'm very satisfied.
