It was open and It is extremely small. I ordered an x large so others in the family could wear it later if they wanted to. Try either one of you try to pass them who hair nice to clean it up. The head dress really did not stay on top of your head. It would slide down and completely block your foreword view. I suspect the padding in the headdress does not have a contour shape for your head. It was like wearing a pillow on your head that would slide foreword. When Elmo first arrived everyone was so impressed! He looked great coming up the driveway! The birthday boy (3) was so happy! We bought a ski mask and red fluffy gloves to top it off. (The only issue was the size! - not one man at the party fit in the costume but a woman 5’5 medium build had lots of extra room!) Well worth it! Read more
