I’ve been using this type of disinfectant and sanitizer for some time now. Every night I spray and wipe down my bathroom floor with it. Hypochlorous acid is a surprisingly effective disinfectant. It is on the list of virus-killing agents listed by the CDC. This has a low concentration of the acid (0.018%), but it doesn’t take much to be effective. In fact, it’s more effective than chlorine bleach. It’s also a lot safer to use, despite the word “acid,” which can be a turnoff. There’s a very light scent, but it’s almost imperceptible, perfect for people who are sensitive to fragrances. I use another hypochlorous acid-based spray for dog issues. They track in all kinds of things from the outside. With this disinfectant, I simply spray and let it sit for a minute before wiping down. I have another brand, but this one is similar. I do wash my bathroom floor daily, but I still need a fairly regular disinfectant on it. It’s a very safe product to use and paws or hands that might come in contact with the acid are safe. It says you don’t need to wipe it down, but I do. I don’t have any reaction to this solution, unlike some with bleach in the ingredients. I prefer to use this over bleach any day of the week, although I do need bleach for some jobs. I prefer to use something like this disinfectant / sanitizer as it’s an effective cleaner. I was pleased to find this product on Amazon. I ordered the three bottles of 16 fl oz [473 ml] each, with a removable spray mechanism. This is hypochlorous acid (HOCl) 0.018% in water, and does not contain fragrance or other ingredients. It comes in an opaque, #1-PETE plastic bottle, which provides the best stability. It must be stored in a dark, cool place to preserve its shelf life. The spray tip's markings (spray, off, stream, off) are hard to see as unless they catch the proper light angle, so consider highlighting them with a non-erasable marker. This disinfectant was not easy to find in the past. It is formed by dissolving chlorine in water, which in part converts to HOCl, but the weak acid cannot be isolated in pure form due to a fast reactive equilibrium with its precursor. A number of developments (electrolyzing reactors, pH stabilization, etc) have allowed to produce it in larger quantities with a longer shelf life. It is the same acid produced by our white-blood cell types in response to infection, and is highly effective against a broad range of bacteria and fungi, as it selectively binds with the cell-membrane lipid layer and quickly disrupts its integrity. It is also effective against viruses, as the acid breaks up the DNA, making it useless, since it is a strong oxidizer that alters proteins. Furthermore, it is neither caustic nor corrosive like bleach, and will not damage surfaces. It received a lot of attention during the COVID pandemic because of its verified power against the CoV-2 virus; it is also approved for Mpox. HOCl has lately acquired a well deserved fame as a skin-care product (to fight acne-causing bacteria and some other conditions) given its strong antipruritic, antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory properties, while at the same time being non-toxic and absolutely mild on the skin. Because I cannot use scented products I was very excited to get this product. There were the three bottles and four sprayers included. Two of the sprayers don't fit the pictured bottles. There is no cleaning solution in the bottles. I have no way to prove it disinfects as described but it does not clean. It can be used like an aerosol spray but the sprayers release a lot of product unlike an aerosol so it will be used up in no time. Will not purchase again. Read more
