The ability to monitor and control the temperature remotely using an established third party application, SmartLife, is a serious convenience. I really like the app download has a QR code sticker on the unit itself in case the instructions were lost to know which app controls it. This has been an issue for me with smart lights in the past. The app is easy to set up, but you really need to create an account to use it. The instructions in the app are not clear; it wants an email address to register an account via a code. I really like that I can check on the my chicken coop's temperature from inside my house and adjust the thermostat or set a timer function to preheat the space before the chickens go to roost. The temperature adjustments are fairly precise. I noticed it was a couple of degrees off of my thermometer, but this is not a problem given the working environment. The heat output is fast, warming up the small space effectively and ensuring my birds stay safe on cold nights. The long wire for the external temperature probe is also a really nice feature, allowing me to position it correctly to measure the air temperature near the animals, rather than near the heating element. However, while the heater unit itself is durable and waterproof, the AC power plug does not appear to be rated for outdoor, unprotected use, meaning I had to house it inside a waterproof enclosure, adding another step to the setup. My biggest concern is the lack of any tip over safety switch. While it has a child lock and is flame retardant, knowing there is no auto shutoff if the unit were somehow knocked off the wall is a significant worry in a busy environment like a chicken coop. Ultimately, this heater offers mixed value for the money. It works great and its smart features and reliable heat delivery are high quality and worth the price if you prioritize remote monitoring and control. However, the physical limitations of wall mount only, non-weatherproof plug, and lack of tip over protection mean that it requires extra effort and expense to ensure it is installed safely and securely, especially in an outdoor environment. It is a fantastic tool once it is properly installed, but the installation process itself is not as easy or secure as I would prefer. Read more

Pretty cool that even our outdoor animals can enjoy the modern comforts of the 21st century. The size is smaller than expected. I expected the size to be closer to an indoors space heater. I plugged it in and tested indoors for a couple days before taking it outdoors to install. The install is simple, two screws into the bracket and slide the heater onto the mounting bracket. I have it mounted to allow for extra space behind the heater to promote air flow. The best part was that it did not need an additional app. It uses the SmartLife app which I already use for multiple smart home devices. It connected really easier and it gives you the ability to control and check on the heater remotely. You can add schedules for on/off, adjust the temperature and get notifications of when it turns on/off or even if it goes offline. Turning it on manually is possible too if your location isn’t close enough to WiFi. The instructions do not mention any safety features and another reviewer wrote about their concerns over the lack of safety features. The product page mentions its waterproof, flame retardant, and has a child lock. But nothing about tip over safety. Functionally, you feel the heat coming off it and the forced air promotes circulation. But I think the space I’m trying to use it for is too large. The product page specifies up to 125 cubic feet and the space it is installed in is approximately 159 cubic feet. I live in Southern California so it doesn’t get very cold. But when I was unexpectedly woken up at 4:30 am this morning, I checked the heater through the app. It was reading 53 degrees Fahrenheit when the thermostat was set to 60. I checked it before going to bed, and it was showing 58 inside when it was set to 60. Lows here were in the high forties last night. So it was not able to hold a steady temperature, and I’m sure it ran constantly. My only thought is the heater is mounted high to stay out of the way, while the probe is mounted low to give a reading of the level where my dog sleeps. Was the reading accurate? Did it actually feel warmer inside since the heat was higher up? I didn’t go outside to check at 4:30 am. But I’m sure she still slept better than without the heater. Other downsides would be the probe itself. It isn’t terrible long, and it does not include any means of securing it. The mounting bracket is plastic, and could break if bumped or over time. There is of course the potential safety issues, plus the fact that it needs to be in a very small space to be efficient. Read more

We have been using this in a finished back patio area that is converted into a playroom. It's a bit larger than a doghouse, but the option to remote heat is perfect. The output of heat is high right near it and it gives a good overall warmth even in the larger space. It definitely would be ideal for a smaller space, like a dog house, but for a medium room where you need remote heat, it functions well enough. The thermostat wire itself is lengthy enough that you can have it away from the heater to get a better sense of the actual air temperature. There are also good lengths to the cords for the heater and the controller, so everything can be appropriately spaced. The controller is very simple to use, as is the app, so there isn't a steep learning curve. This was easy to set up, with clear instructions for mounting and feeding a controller to the outside if needed, and simple to download the app to control it. I can quickly start it from my phone while the door to the playroom is closed. Previously we had to go into a frigid space and then wait for it to heat. Now we can set it on a timer function to turn on before we get up. It also has some great safety functions, locking out the manual controller so the kids don't change it, and a timer to turn off after some length of time. Read more

Got this for my brother to use in his doghouse and so far it seems to be doing the job. he hasn’t mentioned any issues, he said the wifi control and thermostat work as expected. looks like a decent option if you need something simple and reliable to keep pets warm. Read more
