Great taste and great value

Hailey BrownJune 21, 2018

I LOVE matcha and have tried a few different ones from Amazon, but this one is by far my favorite. I take roughly 1 tsp (I just eyeball it honestly) and mix it with water, then add ice and almond/soy/oat milk, and stir it some more. I wish I was fancy enough to have one of those matcha whisks but I haven't made the plunge yet, though I drink it every single day so I should. Anyway the point is if you just stir the hell out of this stuff with a regular old spoon, it's fine. It's not perfect but the matcha mostly dissolves and isn't an issue. Also, the taste is AWESOME - not too grassy or bitter or anything like that, just a really nice, smooth, green matcha-y taste. Honestly, I've been to several matcha places all over NYC - like tea rooms that use fancy, ceremonial grade matcha that they sell for like $80 for a miniscule tin of matcha - and I honestly like this stuff better. I'm sure there are fancier versions of matcha out there that you could buy, but I don't feel the need to explore those because this stuff tastes great and gets the job done, and for the number of servings you get out of a tin, it's actually a very reasonable price. I have one 2.8 oz tin at work, and it's lasted me three months (and I drink a cup every morning). That's roughly 20 days x 3 months = 60 days/$34 = 58 cents per serving. BOOM. I also bet it would be delicious hot - I just prefer it iced/it's easier to throw together than heating up milk and stuff in the office kitchen. DEFINITELY recommend. Read more

(Organic) Second Harvest vs First Harvest vs Bigelow Bagged Green Tea

Carrot GardenAugust 9, 2015

I will compare my experiences with Organic First Harvest DoMatcha, Organic Second Harvest DoMatcha, and "Organic" Bigelow bagged green tea. I have not tried the non-organic DoMatcha teas, nor do I plan to. I'm currently on my 5th tin of Second Harvest DoMatcha and recently finished my second tin of First Harvest DoMatcha. They are both incredibly delicious, creamy, and richly flavored, but there are differences. First Harvest DoMatcha is slightly creamier, slightly less bitter, contains more delicate and diverse flavors, and is absolutely pampering; however, it requires twice the amount of whisking to completely mix it into the water. I never knew anything could make me feel as pampered as when I am eating an organic dark chocolate, but First Harvest does it for me. I buy a tin of First Harvest for special occasions, holidays, or when I just feel that need for extra pampering. I know that something this good for you shouldn't be described as if it were a sinful indulgence, but to me, it certainly feels that way. Second Harvest is excellent for everyday use; it's a part of my morning routine. It's healthy, it's delicious, and it gives you a little caffeine boost. The way I prepare either First or Second Harvest DoMatcha is to mix 1 tsp to 1 tbsp into what is probably about a cup of water but I'm not certain, as I haven't measured the water. What I can say is this: I like it thick, creamy and frothy. I do not add anything to it. When I run out of DoMatcha and am waiting a few days for my next order to come in, I go to my backup: organic bagged green tea (no longer Bigalow brand). I used to drink Bigalow Organic Green Tea daily, but it cannot compare to matcha in any way; it is a far inferior product in terms of flavor, texture, and health benefits. In general, bagged green teas will not be in any way creamy/frothy and will have a lot more bitterness. For green tea lovers, matcha is a huge upgrade that I recommend to anyone. Regarding Bigelow bagged green tea, I eventually learned that the tea actually comes from China, not from their plantation in SC, which greatly angered me because I felt like I had been deceived all that time. The company makes a big deal out of their SC plantation but doesn't sell the teas online or in any stores I have access to. I also learned that anything coming out of China, even if labeled organic, is not healthy due to unavoidable exposure to toxins and pollutants that run rampant in the air, soil, and water. Read more

Ancient tea that’s now available in modern times

Mark GoldsteinJuly 20, 2024

What I love about this particular Matcha Tea is that I have been drinking Do Matcha for many years. It’s familiar and reliable. Why do I drink it? Google the benefits of green tea. Watch a dozen or so YouTube videos. Green tea is one of the best things you can give your body—particularly your brain. Do a little research on how poorly modern brains are aging. By age 40 neuroscience has discovered one in three of us are showing early signs of Alzheimer’s. It may take 20 years to be diagnosed. That gives plenty of time to make lifestyle enhancements. Green tea is an easy change compared to 45 minutes brisk walking daily or pranayama deep breathing exercises three times a day. Both critical for getting adequate oxygen to our aging brain. Matcha Tea is the best green tea as it is ground into powder that you totally consume as opposed to soaking leaves in water, throwing away the leaves after 5 or 10 minutes and drinking the water. I’ve been in the aging field for over 40 years. Believe me, the median lifespan increased by 30 years in the 20th Century but our health span is lagging sorely behind. You will not inadvertently age well. It takes the right plan and self-discipline. What do I dislike about Do Matcha Tea? It’s one of the best and it keeps getting more expensive. But then again, so do cigarettes and martinis. A word to the wise… Read more

Sweet and lovely mild flavor

BoofandamittensJanuary 17, 2025

I love ceremonial grade green tea because of the fruity and mild flavor. Plus it’s good for you. I would rate 5 stars, but darn it, this imported stuff is on the pricy side. Read more
