Perfect for traveling! I bought this to take when we visit my dad. His apartment is small and we don't need the whole big setup from home (besides the fact that it is messy and a pain to transport). We like this one as the bowls pop out for easy cleaning. We can also use one when we stop for a break for water. Bowls are generous and perfect size for both food and water. We feed (and provide water for) our girl on an elevated feeder at home and she seems much happier with less digestive upset. The problem is that she's a doggie on the run. We live near several family members and take her along when we visit, where she needs water (and food that she will inevitably ignore because somebody is feeding her under the table - it's not worth the argument to stop it altogether as long as they're asking if she can have whatever before they give it to her, and they do). If it's less of a big to-do, though, she will eat her food (especially if she gets a little something extra in it like a bit of cheese or plain turkey or similar), and we like having the option to make things as consistent as possible for her. She's not the best eater and drinker in the world in the first place, and being away from home at mealtime is already disruptive, so we like to replicate her home experience as much as possible. It's worth noting that it smells like plastic at first, so give it a minute. It's also relevant that my girl is not interested in playing with her food bowls, so this isn't under any particular stress. She's a border collie mix (rescue so nobody really knows for sure), about 45 lbs give or take (looks well larger because of the voluminous fur), and maybe knee high on a pretty short person at the shoulder. This is plenty of height for her but it might not be for the larger or longer-legged dogs even if they're in her same weight range. Read more
