Downy Light Ocean Mist scent booster beads are perfect if you want your laundry to smell fresh without being too strong. The scent is light, clean, and refreshing—not heavy or artificial—and it lasts nicely on clothes and linens. I like that these are a gentler alternative to traditional scent boosters, especially for everyday laundry. A little goes a long way, and it works well for towels, sheets, and activewear. Great option for anyone sensitive to strong fragrances. Read more

I absolutely love the Downy Light Laundry Scent Booster! It gives my clothes such a clean, fresh smell that lasts for days without being too strong or artificial. The “light” formula is perfect if you like your laundry to smell fresh but not perfumey. It’s super easy to use just toss a capful into the washer and it works great with all kinds of clothes, even towels and bedding. I also like that it’s free from heavy dyes and strong chemicals, so it doesn’t irritate my skin. If you love that just-washed freshness but hate overpowering scents, this is a must-try! Read more

OK, first off let me say that this smells amazing. I was kind of skeptical at first, because I work at a store that I fulfill orders at, and a customer was standing next to me and she stated that she buys this one because the smell lasts longer. And it doesn’t give off heavy perfume smells. So what did I do. I just took a chance and was like let me just go ahead since she said she loved this one and the smell last way longer than the other downy brands. She ain’t lying. I had my son to smell this one and the other Downy scented beads that I normally buy and he picked this one. Stating, it smells way better than my other ones and I totally agree. The freshness it gives off when you are washing, the size was excellent. The quality is fantastic. I recommend getting this one right here. I am so torn between my other scent I buy for myself and this one. 😩 Read more

These are my favorite scent beads, always my go to. They wash nicely, I’ve never noticed any leftover in the wash. I feel like the bottle lasts me quite a while and is worth the money. I typically get them at Costco but they always change the scent available there so it’s easier to subscribe and save on here. Read more

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I tossed these beads into a load of towels, but right away I noticed something different—our linen closet now smells like a calming lavender breeze rather than that “just-washed” generic scent. I used about half the capful (since our washer is on the smaller side) and added the towels right after. By the time the dryer finished, the scent was subtle yet unmistakable: fresh lavender softened with a hint of vanilla. It lingered when I pulled the towels out, and even the next morning when I grabbed one for breakfast, I caught that same gentle scent. According to the packaging, these beads are “made with no heavy perfumes, dyes, or phosphates” and give you “4× the long-lasting freshness than with detergent alone. If I had to point out one small thing: for a very large load, you might want to use a little more than the “half-cap” suggestion just to maintain that lingering scent through the whole load. Overall, if you’re looking for a gentle way to make your laundry smell fresh and clean—with a soft lavender twist instead of a heavy perfume—I’d definitely recommend these beads. They’ve become a favorite in our weekly wash lineup. Read more

I have used scent boosters for probably 7-8 years now, but only reviewing for the first time…mainly because I’ve religiously & adamantly used only natural laundry & cleaning products since my 6 months old daughter was diagnosed w eczema & quickly discovered harsh chemicals made a HUGE difference, but as our washing machine got older, things didn’t always smell fresh, even after super hot water wash. So, w her in her teens & able to instantly identify new irritants, thought I’d try some, & could leave off her items if necessary. If any other parents may be curious out of similar concerns….I’ve now tried just about every brand of scented laundry additive made, & was a long time gain moonlight breeze fan….LOVED the scent…sweet w/o being too much, perfumy, or inappropriate for my husband & teenage son, but ultimately found myself using way more than recommended in order for the scent to last. At some point, when my preferred gain was out in the store, I settled for Downy shimmer….which INSTANTLY became our favorite replacement. The scent lasted much longer & was a nicer pleasant gender neutral scent. Going through several periods of Shimmer being unavailable~w other’s questioning if it was discontinued online, I settled on Spring…it’s quite similar but a little sweeter? Honestly, they’re the only 2 scents I’d found I would even consider!! I came across a small bottle of the Shea Blossom in a store I normally don’t shop for that sort of thing, but it & another were new to me, so thought I’d just take a whiff out of curiosity….I’m the one smelling every candle on the aisle in Marshall’s & Tj Maxx because ya NEVER KNOW what gem you may find amongst 95%, or more, scents I wouldn’t burn if given to me free~I’m obviously quite picky about fragrances & don’t usually like anything ‘created,’ like fresh, rain, etc, but also don’t care for fabulous scents that disappear instantly either. Shea Blossom was an incredibly unexpected surprise!!! I wouldn’t say as strong or on the sweet side as Shimmer or Spring, I guess more floral, but an incredibly mild floral….almost a weak Gardenia. I mean, it is called “light,” but I wouldn’t know if the bottle didn’t say so because the performance isn’t a bit lighter! To me, it’s just a more natural, earthy scent….idk the right words exactly except, not as forced. Clothes smell exactly as you’d expect coming out of the wash, & occasionally I use a little extra on items that won’t be used soon. **an important note…using a front loader, I often add a bit of vinegar to the softener compartment because it helps loosen dirt, strip odors & softens, while also helping the drum stay cleaner, but it doesn’t affect the scent whatsoever! Smells equally great w or w/o vinegar** Fortunately, the Gain boosters didn’t irritate her skin when using a little less than recommended, & the Downy boosters have not irritated her at all, yet Downy fabric softener has caused mild irritation while Tide sets her skin on fire!!!! Knowing it’s definitely more chemicals than I’ll allow at any other time, I feel reassured it’s not bad enough to require caution, & I get to treat myself to a rare bonus of not worrying when I pull out long stored linens for guests that they may need a fresh wash first (I have actually added small plastic pouches w some beads & w holes punched throughout also in items stored in fabric bins long term to help due to a musty smell infiltrating the closet from the crawl space beneath) I have now solely converted to Shea Blossom permanently & even subscribed to monthly delivery. And, now that my daughter is grown & added her 2nd child recently, she has quite rolling her eyes at my use of natural products & converted herself, though she too has chosen to make an exception for Downy Scent Boosters, though opting for a different scent (I think the Light Ocean Mist), & using 1/2 the recommended amount, which she says is perfect as quickly as items are used/worn & therefore washed often. But she readily substitutes mine when she’s out! Doesn’t use on her 5 months old baby, but has been using for her 5 years old son since 1 or so when she also switched from the Gain brand. Newly tried natural detergents have come & gone due to reactions, but Downy has proven trustworthy & continued to be consistently gentle & non irritating to her highly sensitive skin, as well as her young children’s (the baby sleeps on her sheets, & mine, & has extremely close contact w our clothes. Of course EVERYONE is different, but I would recommend at least trying if you have skin concerns because our experience has been great, & that’s rarely true outside green products! And, if you’re not a big fan of overwhelming or intensely permeating smells, I’d also recommend Shea Blossom, & hopefully you too can finally enjoy a mild fragrance boost that’s typically next to impossible to find Read more

These Downy Light Laundry Scent Boosters infuse my clothes with a gentle, long-lasting freshness that’s not overpowering. They’re incredibly easy to use! The only downside is the lid, which is quite fragile. If you’re not careful, it can break and won’t close properly. But overall, the product is excellent! Read more

Love this scent and the price for this scent. You don't need the full recommended amount either - saves some beads and makes it last longer. Read more
