Great product that I highly recommend for shaving! I'm allergic to most products with bad chemicals in them, so I'm always looking for more natural alternatives than regular shaving cream or products in general. This lathers, smells amazing and helps to avoid the highly chemical alternatives for shaving as it's all natural ingredients! Read more

I've tried a lot of shaving soaps and creams. Most give you the traditional "Santa Beard" lather. Then there are the "Super Slicks." These give you a light and foamy, yet very slick lather. Your blade just glides. I put Dr. Bronner's Peppermint Organic Shaving Soap in that category. It's super slick, light, foamy and really delivers a nice, close shave. ( I use a safety razor). As others have noted, this liquid soap is quite runny. On first dispensing, this will get away from you. You'll end up pouring out too much. So, dispense with care and caution. I used this with a brush and bowl and it lathered up nicely. But you can use your hands to lather if you prefer. When using a shaving brush, the result is a light, foamy lather. I did, however, use a bit more than recommended in order to generate enough lather for a three-pass shave. I've read it's recommended to use about a quarter size amount of liquid. I doubled this amount. (YMMV based on how hard or soft your water is). Still, even using this larger amount of soap, there's enough product in the tube to last and last. It's going to go a long way. Great peppermint scent, nice slickness, and a close shave! No nicks, no cuts, no irritation! Five stars! Read more

I recently tried Dr. Bronner’s Organic Shaving Soap for the first time in Lemongrass, and while it’s different from the typical shaving cream consistency I’m used to—it’s much more liquidy—the product itself is impressive. One thing to be mindful of is that the lid tends to leak a bit, so it’s best to store the bottle upside down to prevent any mess. That's really the main reason I'm not giving it 5 stars because it is a little less convenient. That aside, the shave quality is great. The formula creates a nice lather sans any synthetic foaming agents like SLS and provides a smooth, comfortable shave. Plus, the fresh lemongrass scent adds a pleasant touch to the experience. If you’re looking for a completely natural shaving soap and don’t mind a slightly runnier consistency, it’s definitely worth trying. Read more

I am not fond of the consistency or smell of the product. However, after I shave, the end results are excellent. The good: I'm thrilled that I found something organic to use on my face that goes on smooth. The bad: It smells like old crushed Bavarian pretzels. The ugly: The consistency of the product is like brown, watery soap. I just keep telling myself, "It's organic and it will be okay in a little while. Don'tbe a baby!" Man, this would be better if it smelled like sandalwood!!!!!! Even lavender would be better. Read more

I discovered Dr. Bronner soaps and shampoos about a year ago and immediately became a loyal fan. First for the quality of the products. But even more when I learned about the company's credo and ethical practices. I had no idea they offered a shaving gel until I saw it recommended in Men's Journal, so promptly ordered 2 tubes. First impression was that the tube is larger than I had anticipated. On first use, I was a little surprised; it was the color and consistency of motor oil! But it went on smoothly and turned to the expected white when applied. Wanting a true, side by side comparison, I put it only on one side of my face and used my usual Proraso Shave Cream on the other side. (I'd read somewhere that's the most popular shave cream in Italy and that company is over 80 years old so it seemed tenured.) The Proraso has the consistency of thick toothpaste and goes on much pastier so I felt sure it was giving better protection to my very sensitive skin. The result was really unexpected. The Dr. Bronner side was completely smooth and unscathed while the Proraso side had the usual razor knicks and cuts...with the same blade! Also, when I rinsed, the Bronner side came off immediately, leaving my skin feeling smooth and clean. The Proraso side took repeated rinsing to get the residue off and still felt coated. The difference was so pronounced that the Proraso was tossed in the trash right then. I know this sounds like a sponsored ad or manically skewed, but it really is that good. The only complaint I had was that the Bronner Gel extrudes out of the container too easily, being more liquid than gel. There's a small metallic flap that covered the opening under the cap initially that I removed thinking it was a seal. I noticed that it had slits in it so that the gel would have been allowed to stream out even with it left in place, which I believe now was there and to mitigate the flow. FYI if you decide to buy a tube, leave the tab in place. Obviously, I give this new Bronner product a wildly enthusiastic 5 stars. With some experimenting, I find that using a Badger Hair Shaving brush improves the froth and hydration of the gel even better, though not a necessity. Read more
