Save time and money

I hit a nail with my saw. It threw the chain. I tried to file out the imperfections. I gave up and bought a new chain. After running this tool on the old damaged chain, it cut better than my new chain. I have done many different chains with this tool now. It works fantastic. For the cost of 2 sharpenings at the hardware store, I can get better results. Read more

Does a pretty good job, better than most by hand file for sure.

Not the most professional edge and chisel but not bad at all, especially at this price point. Very easy to use as well. After I used it to sharpen my chain, I ran my Husqy 455 for several hours (5+) clearing a combination of hardwood and softwood trees. It was still cutting well at the end. Read more

Good tool for sharpening chainsaws, but lacking a depth gauge filing tool

C. Mulcihyβ€”September 9, 2025βœ“ Verified purchase

Great little product to sharpen chain saws. If you haven't sharpen a chainsaw before, you sharpen both sides of the chain saw for left and right cutters from the right and left side of the bar, respectively. I am able to sharpen my chainsaw blade without putting it in a vice with this tool. With this Dremel tool, the flat rest marking 30 degrees is resting upon the rake on the left cutting edge, but resting on the tooth on the right side cutting edge. This can give you an uneven depth to your sharpening if you are not careful. In other words, you have to be careful to avoid messing up the depth of your sharpening if you use this tool. The tool does have a tendency to grind the bottom part of the chain if you are not careful, even when using the correct file size. The Dremel tool does not have a way to grind down the depth gauge. I also use the Oregon tool sharping kit for filing the depth gauge. The Dremel tool does sharpens the chain saw blade much faster than a file. I've used this tool multiple times to sharpen chainsaws, and it works much better and faster than a file. I recommend this product, and I recommend getting a depth gauge filing tool. Read more

ONE USE BITS = BAD

Rickβ€”November 18, 2025βœ“ Verified purchase

Used on a Stihl Farm Boss and a Ryobi. It works well and is easy for beginners. It is hands down better than going with an old school file. I used two different sizes of grinders for the Ryobi being 8 in. and another for the Stihl being 20 in. My biggest gripe is that, ONE USE and their TOAST!! I anticipated replacement with use but ONE TIME = NOT COOL. Read more
