I picked up this DRFLASH fast-drying hair dryer (110,000 RPM high-speed motor, 200 million negative ions, low-noise design with a mirror, dark gray color) to replace my old bulky one, especially since I travel a bit and wanted something lightweight for my trips from Utah. It's been a huge upgrade. The build feels premium for the price—compact and really light in hand (doesn't tire my arm out during full blowouts), the matte dark gray finish looks sleek and doesn't show fingerprints, and the foldable handle with the built-in mirror is super handy for quick checks or travel packing. The high-speed motor dries my thick, shoulder-length hair in about half the time my old dryer took—seriously fast without feeling scorching hot thanks to the smart thermo-control that keeps the temp steady and prevents damage. The negative ions leave my hair smooth, shiny, and way less frizzy/static than before, even on humid days. Noise level is impressively low for how powerful it is—not jet-engine loud like some high-RPM dryers, so it's nice for early mornings or not bugging the house. Ease of use is great: simple controls (hot/cold, speed settings), the concentrator nozzle works well for directing airflow, and the 120V plug is standard for US use with no adapters needed. Efficacy-wise, it handles all hair types in my household fine—quick dry for my straight hair, good volume for my wife's wavy stuff—and the ionic tech really helps with flyaways and shine. For the value, it's a steal—lightweight travel features, pro-level speed and ions, plus that handy mirror, all at a budget price that beats a lot of big-name brands I've tried. No overheating issues or weird smells after weeks of daily use. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone wanting fast, gentle drying without the noise or weight—perfect for home or packing in a suitcase. Love Read more

Okay, this is going to sound like a negative review, but I promise it’s not. Stay with me. And no, sorry there is no TL;DR. If you can take a Buzzfeed quiz to find out which “Friends” character you are, or what is your Spirit Animal, you can read this review! I was skeptical when I first saw the DRFLASH dryer. It looks a lot like a very popular dryer we’ve all heard of, searched for, and side eyed because it costs around $500. For context, I’ve owned two other “luxury brand” hair dryers for years. One looks similar to this and rhymes with bison, and the other is mint green and rhymes with marry posh. I still wanted to try the DRFLASH because of the strong reviews and because I needed an inexpensive dryer that would actually fit in my carryon. Hotel hair dryers are consistently disappointing, and while I usually bring my favorite one, I’m always nervous it’s going to get damaged in transit. The good news for anyone looking for a “bison” dupe is this one comes pretty close. It weighs less and has better controls. My carpal tunnel wrist didn’t yell at me even once while I was using it. The bad news for me is that the “bison” and my hair never had a good relationship, and using this dryer felt like going back to a toxic ex. For the record, I know how to blow out my hair and I put my hair through a LOT. I get it highlighted/bleached twice a year and do regular root touch ups. Those touch ups have increased over the past year because apparently I’m the chosen poster child for stress induced grays. My mom left me two years ago and I swear the grays on my crown showed up overnight. So rude! But I digress. So yes, my hair goes through it, but I also baby it with deep conditioners, masks, oiling, leave ins, and heat protectants. If my hair were a person, it would be pampered, living in luxury, with perfect bone structure, a solid stock portfolio, ideal BMI, and an excellent credit score. I bought the mint green “marry posh” around 2014 and fell completely in love. Unfortunately, after dropping it on my tiled bathroom floor one too many times, it broke up with me in 2017. I considered repurchasing it but decided to try the “bison” instead since it was supposed to be amazing. And at first my dear shoppers, it WAS amazing. Like the DRFLASH, it dried my hair incredibly fast. It was quieter and lighter, too. But after a few months, my hair started changing and not in a good way. It felt like straw after drying. I tried every possible setting, but the result was always the same brittle, straw like hair. Even my longtime stylist noticed how damaged and dry it had become. My doctor even ran bloodwork because the change was that drastic. Everything came back normal-levels, thyroid, all fine and I was still stumped. Then I thought back to when the change started and suspected my beloved “bison” as the culprit. At the time, the PR game was STRONG, so finding anything negative online was impossible. That has definitely changed, there are now plenty of stories from people who have experienced the similar issues. To test my theory, I ordered another “marry posh.” To my surprise, I noticed a difference after the first use. After a few weeks, my healthy hair started coming back. That’s when I realized certain hair types just don’t do well with “bison” style dryers. I suspect it has something to do with ultra fast drying that “flash evaporates” moisture before the cuticle can seal it in. For me, the result was brittle, textured, rough, angry hair that absolutely hated my existence. When I first tried the DRFLASH on dry hair, it was fantastic. My hair stayed smooth and soft, and I was instantly hooked. But thennnn I washed my hair and reality set in. Same issue as with the “bison.” Rough, unhappy hair. It’s the craziest thing. I’m sure there’s some scientific explanation for it but I’m not a scientist. Although I do own a lab coat…don’t ask ;) So where’s the positive review? I still had hope for the DRFLASH, so I kept testing. I used it on my friend who has virgin, straight, long hair. It’s down to her lower back. Her hair was fully dry in under 10 minutes. No frizz, no brittleness, just smooth, soft, shiny hair. Still skeptical, I tried it on her sister, who has the same hair type but shorter. Five minutes later another smooth, shiny blowout. Their hair looked and felt incredible. I was genuinely amazed. The weirdest part? If I use this DRFLASH dryer on my dry hair, I have zero issues. It’s the prolonged use on wet hair that does me in. I wasn’t about to stress my hair out for months again, so I stopped after that first wet hair test. I did, however, use it on my friend and her sister multiple times with the same TV commercial worthy results EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Then I billed them. Hey, blowouts are $50 in my area! Okay, okay, I didn’t actually bill them. But they did treat me to brunch as a thank you for week long blowouts. Mimosas and good company for the win! This dryer is 1400 watts and has dual air speeds with multiple temperature settings, allowing you to switch between quick drying and gentler styling. There are four heat settings and light modes: Hot, Warm, Cool, and Alternating Hot/Cool. Built in four-color LED indicators change with the heat button. Red for Hot, Orange for Warm, Green for Cool, and Yellow for Alternating Hot/Cool. The LEDs are located on the back of the dryer, where there’s also a handy little mirror. You ever wonder why we don’t carry mirrors anymore? I always had a little mirror on me in high school and college. The other day I was at a basketball game and had something in my eye so I used my phone camera to check which I’m not a fan of. It always looks like you’re taking a random selfie at the wrong time. I asked myself why don’t I have a mirror?! Anyway, I digressed again. The heat settings are changed with a simple light press of a button. The airflow is fast, but it never felt burning hot on my scalp, neither did it on my friend’s or her sister’s scalp. It comes with a concentrator nozzle that attaches magnetically. No twisting required. Also in the box is a small orange plastic ball. Ping pong ball? Mystery artifact? Homage to “Marty Supreme?” A random prize? Or does Timothée Chalamet personally package these dryers during his downtime when he’s not looking annoyed at award shows? I never figured it out, and there’s nothing in the manual explaining it. The only thing I’d change is the cord length. It’s a little under six feet. It’s fine if you’re close to an outlet, since you’re technically “not” supposed to use extension cords with a high watt hair dryers unless they’re heavy duty. That said, I believe all appliances should come with 10 foot cords, so maybe that’s just my bias talking. If your hair does well with ionic hair dryers, this one is absolutely worth it. It’s powerful, lightweight, quiet, performs beautifully, and is a great value! Read more
