Good Choice For An Active User
It works for me. It may not be the best for everyone. I have a balance problem and have been using a cane for three years. This is OK inside my condo and for short distances elsewhere but using a cane is tiring for extended walking. I have good leg strength and discovered that I could walk fairly easily when I used a shopping cart in a store, so I decided to research various types of rollators. I wanted one that I could use outdoors on sidewalks, pavement in malls and park pathways and the like. I did not anticipate using it for rough terrain so I quickly ruled out the very expensive Scandinavian designs. The basic Medicare style rollator with small wheels seemed to work best indoors but even so had trouble with small obstacles like door sills, cords and so on. Most were not designed for exercise walking. I decided that the Nitro had the features I wanted and ordered one about a month ago. There were some negative reviews which gave me a little concern but I suspected that these might be due to the customer not understanding the limitations of the device. For example, moving the Nitro with a person seated WILL probably cause the rubber tires to separate from the wheels. It is not a people mover. It is designed to be a walker and this caution is clearly stated in the pamphlet which comes with the equipment and is also printed on the frame of the Nitro. For safety, do read the instructions. My opinion of this rollator after a month of use is that it suits my requirements for a walker which can be used to good effect by those with fairly good mobility who need assistance with balance and support. It seems sturdy and the larger wheels allow free movement over door sills, pavement cracks and the like. It has a foot operated tilt lever which makes it easy to negotiate curbstones. The cargo carrier can be removed or attached without tools. The Nitro is easy to fold and store in a car trunk. Whether or not it will fit between the front and rear seats will depend on the space available. If this is critical, check dimensions before you buy. If you plan to use a rollator or any exercise device for serious physical rehabilitation get the advice of your doctor or therapist. Read more
