I got this as a gift for a friend who has little TV stations, and it sure is a nice, easy to use, durable machine. The picture quality is nice, plays in HD mode, which is neat, as well as in "standard" TV mode for older television sets like my friend has. I know he has appreciated how well the item has lasted in a cabin that can get very hot in summer and cold in winter. It has been almost a year of daily use now, and he says it works as well as the day I brought it to him for a housewarming gift. Great for a dorm room, apartment, RV travel. The only negative thing I can say about this dvd player is the remote didn't work when I got it. I still haven't replaced the battery to find out if it ever will, but the dvd player came in handy at nights on my vacation so I was happy that it's a compact product and travels easily. Read more
A great compact little DVD player. It's great at dealing with scratches and problem disks, it hasn't once just crashed. The DVD player itself is small and fits very easily in a cramped space. It has a great playback feature so that even if you unplug the player, it still remembers where the video stopped and picks up quickly. Start-up time is very fast, especially if resuming from a spot. I'm very happy with this DVD player. I can't comment on durability, but it feels more solid than most comparable DVD players. I really love how thin it is. It's great at just blending with the background until you want to use it. Update: I've had this DVD player 3 years now, still works great. Has been through 4 different moves. The operation (especially on startup) has gotten louder, but otherwise it still works the same as when it was new. Read more

I actually purchased this for a friend whose DVD player had died. I bought it on the strength of other people's user reviews. I was looking for a compact unit that was nice and simple for an older TV system, and it wasn't actually the cheapest one available but since the user reviews were generally positive I decided on this one. As far as hooking it up goes, on the back there is the capability for the regular RCA hook up, along with a digital coaxial output. It came with an RCA cord. I plugged it in, connected it to the back of the TV, and it was ready to go! It has some buttons for controlling it on the front, and it comes with a very compact remote that is very simple. One good thing about the remote is that it is not the type that must be precisely aimed at the player in order to work. In other words, as long as it is roughly pointed towards the unit it will work. I have had other players that would not work unless the remote was precisely lined up with the player's receiver. One positive thing about this player is that it remembers where you are on a disk, even if you take the disc out and then put it back in. I think you can work with two discs this way, taking one out and playing another one, then putting the first one back in and resuming. The only reason I knocked a star off the rating is because the battery is a difficult replace, flat round battery. Also, it is very difficult to remove the battery because the mechanism for getting it out is sticky. The documentation that came with the player is minimal. I forget if it had instructions for hookup or not. It didn't have registration papers or directions for online registration. For the price, this seems to be a nice simple player and is worth having. Since it was purchased recently, I cannot comment on the length of time it will last. Hopefully, it will last for years, but since it is inexpensive, there is the possibility that it might die in a few months. Read more
I purchased it "open box" but was billed as like new. I tried several discs and they all would start up but eventually would freeze usually just a few minutes into the movie. I could hear the player spin up, spin down, spin up spin down as if it were under some great exertion. Needless to say, not too pleased. But then again I didn't pay a lot for it and knew I was probably taking a chance with an open box item. Read more
I bought this for my daughter so she could watch her Disney DVD's. So far so good. I've had this item for about 4 years and it still works. For 15.00 bucks it was worth it. The remote stopped working but like I said my daughter uses this for her Disney movie collection and it is still going strong even without the remote. lol Read more
