I wanted to try the C,E and Ferulic serum and found more expensive brands out there during my research. I decided to try e.l.f due to the lower price and same ingredients before possibly wasting my money on something that cost more. I ended up really liking this. My skin has a "smooth as glass" feeling and even look after applying. The big test was using it on the top of my hands. Wow! I have had so many compliments on how soft my hands are since using. I've been using it for almost a month and have not adverse reactions. It is a bit sticky so I have not used it under makeup. I apply it before bedtime and follow with my regular nighttime moisturizer. Read more
Good product. Labeled with percentages of ingredients whereas other products on Amazon that sell well are mystery stuff, in my opinion. Bottle is good, good delivery of product. 15% Vit. C. Liquid. The only complaint I have is that there is an odor—it’s not unpleasant, but is sort of medicinal. It lasts for a while, but then diminishes. More important, I think I am seeing, after just a few days, lightening of some dark areas. Makeup applies OK if you let it dry down about 15 mins. Read more
INFO ABOUT THE SCENT - if you have not used a Vitamin C Serum before you may be surprised it kinda smells like hot dogs. I know it doesn’t make sense, but good, actual C serums (including the high priced ones) all do. If your C serum smells citrusy it’s not gonna do anything. This is a legit C serum. I’m using it for my menopausal melasma spots. Follow directions on use to decrease chance of irritation. I have liked it so far! Read more
Stained my skin a dark orangey-brown. I looked into it and there's a PhD chemist who blogged about this years ago. The ingredients turn into self-tanner when they oxidize. Any effect that seems like its lightening dark spots is an optical illusion, because your dark spots appear lighter in contrast to your darkly stained skin. My whole face, neck, and upper chest are blotchy with what appears to be self-tanner stains. It's especially bad on any dead skin cells, so any dry patches of your face will be extra dark and prominent. Especially on days when I used this with a water-based gel sunscreen, because oils help protect the Vitamin C from oxidation. Without an oily lotion/cream sunscreen, my skin toasted extra dark. "ascorbic acid eventually oxidises to erythrulose! ...Erythrulose is an ingredient in fake tans. ...These ingredients work by reacting with proteins in the dead stratum corneum layer of your skin to produce brown compounds called melanoidins. These melanoidins stay on your skin and give it a brown colour, until the dead cells slough off (after around a week). The reaction is a Maillard reaction, similar to the reactions that happen when meat and baked goods turn brown with heat. ...So that’s why vitamin C serums can stain – the ascorbic acid essentially turn into fake tan on your skin! And you’ll notice that it has that signature soy sauce-like fake tan smell too." It smells like hot dog water or cured ham. Read more
First off anyone that comments on the smell begin bad is being overly dramatic drama queens!!! Its vitamin c serum, its not suppose to smell good because if it did, there is fragrance in it and you don't want that! The product is thick and leaves an initial oil feel but that is not a bad thing, its blends well and holds well under make up. For the price and the quality its amazing. My dermatologist looked at the ingredients and even she was impressed. Read more
Results to be seen: It definitely does something to my skin, I use it after a hydrating milky toner and my skin looks glassy & feels smoother. I use it before some other targeting serums and before my moisturizer. However, the dropper bottle is malfunctioning so it makes the application more of a hassle in the morning & the smell takes some getting used to. This is my first try with vitamin c so I’m not sure what to expect. Giving it 3 stars because the dropper bottle isn’t sucking up any product into the straw so idk if I’m applying the correct amount whatsoever. Send me a new applicator & let’s revisit this review! I enjoyed using the e.l.f SKIN Bright. I didn't notice any difference in my skin. I did however, liked how the product felt on my skin. My skin didn't feel dry or too oily. I don't know if I'll purchase it again. Yet it was good while it lasted. Read more
