Amazing.

AltaireFebruary 17, 2014

I don't leave reviews on many of the things I purchase, but I felt the need to do so this time. These sunglasses are flat-out awesome, and I love 'em. Sadly, it's extremely difficult today to find great quality amber or yellow polarized sunglasses, despite the fact that they offer so many benefits over regular grey, blue, or rose lenses for general (or driving) usage. I literally spent about 5 hours looking at all of the top sunglasses manufacturers to find a pair that had yellow or amber lenses AND were also polarzied, in ADDITION to being inexpensive, and then I found Eagle Eyes. Sunglasses are a function-first, fashion-second item, and too many sunglasses manufacturers focus on the latter rather than the former. I'm not sure about anyone else, but when I put on regular sunglasses you get at Walmart or online through other brands, or at Sunglass Hut, I still have to squint a bit when I look in the general direction of the sun. With my Fit Ons, I felt the urge to squint purely out of habit, but I no longer needed to do so because of how effective they are. I should also mention that, in accordance with previous reviewers, the yellow tint to everything can be quite jarring at first if you're not already used to it (I was, because I'm normally determined to get amber or yellow polarized shades). It only took me a week to adjust, but it's definitely worth getting used to. And, in Minnesota, where we've had snow on the ground for months, the extreme cut down on glare from the snow and ice couldn't be more welcome. I was also surprised at how bright everything still is through these shades, while having glare cut down. Eagle Eyes isn't kidding when they say that they don't dim what you're viewing, but they do cut down UVA and UVB rays 100%, and block most (read: not all, but almost all) of the blue wavelengths, so that makes the brightness comfortable and the contrast very pleasing. They did come with a very soft (not cotton; think close to silk) pouch, but not a hard case (which was perfectly fine for me, but may not be okay for someone else). Also, they will be larger than you expect them to be. The size is because they fit over Rx glasses, so keep that in mind. They look cool, and going from regular sunglasses to a pair with your peripheral vision protected (but not blocked) by the side lenses, the improvement is enormous. You might think having side lenses looks weird, but they pay-off is huge. I agree with others about the frames being plastic - I would have expected something a little sturdier, but they seem perfectly strong to me. Unless I'm slamming the ground with my face, I don't expect them to break anytime soon. In short, these are the best sunglasses I've ever owned. For the price point and the proven brand, you can't go wrong with Eagle Eyes IMHO. Hope that helps people, and no - I'm not affiliated with Eagle Eyes or Amazon; this review is an honest one. After buying some cheaper versions (from Walmart) I went ahead and splurged on these. When I put them on my eyes thank me! I am on my second pair now. Read more

I bought these for my mother

Andrew J. HunterOctober 26, 2011

I have a pair of regular eagle eyes. I got my mother to try them and could see that she was not squinting after putting them on. When I saw these 'fit over glasses type' I called my mom and she said she would be interested. So I ordered them. She loves them. She is already suffering from cataracts and has always squinted in blue white light conditions, i.e. when the sun is coming thru a thin layer of cloud, or when she is walking in an area with a lot of 'white' untreated or non painted cement. I read once that people with blue grey eye color often have this problem. Both my mother and I have blue grey eyes and we both suffer with needing to squint in blue white light conditions. If there is enough blue white light I either need to wear sunglasses or squint so much I am looking thru my eyelashes. With my eagle eyes on, unless I have light coming in around the lens, I don't need to squint at all. So I usually prefer the large lens types, to limit light coming into my eyes from around then lens instead of thru the lens. When I saw an ad for eagles eyes years ago, and saw it was based on NASA research into an eagles eye, I decided I would like to try them. At the time I had a really good pair of $500 Maui Jim's, which I found very good. But I wanted a cheaper pair that I would not be as concerned about losing or breaking. After using the eagle eyes I found I preferred them to my Maui Jim's. I have had over 3 pairs of them, as I have had some break or lost them. I will continue to keep using them, even if I have to buy another pair. Read more

Beat the heck out of magnetic clip ons.

Scott A. PittsJuly 19, 2018

Anyone ever tried those "chem clip" magnetic sunglasses lenses? They talked me into them at the eye doctor this last time around. Wasted a lot of money. They just didn't work well for me. If you're active at all, or even just changing your shirt or pushing up your glasses when you're sweaty, those pop right off. And the amber lenses the doc and employees raved about are so in color only. They don't give you the clarity and crispness of a quality lense, even though they cost as much as high end sunglasses. These fitovers are great though. My uncle had given me a pair of Eagle Eyes about six or seven years ago, so I grabbed a pair the other day. Much crisper than those dang magnetic clips. Glad I went out on a limb and got the tortoise shell frames too. I had those kind of frames on my glasses once when I was kid, so I figured I'd be adventurous. These are going to stand out when you wear them. That's just the reality of fitovers. So you might as well add a little style to the mix. Don't make the mistake I did by getting custom magnetic clip ons. Just get a pair of these and you'll be happy. :) Read more
