I was hesitant… frightened….. nervous to try ear hair removal myself, but this kit made it simple. The powder numbs just enough and helps the hair come out easily. There is a lot of discussion about removing the hair from inside a dog's ears. Some dogs don't have a lot of hair in there and so they don't need it removed. Others, like our westie, has a lot of hair in there and it has caused some ear issues, so I jumped at the chance to give this ear powder a try. I have watched videos of groomers and vets doing this task and I even asked our vet if they perform the service. No, they don't. Our groomer does, but our westie doesn't need to be groomed that often so I wanted hte option to perform the task at home. With that said, the powder is used to provide an easier grip on the hair. The hemostat is used to grab the hair further down in the ear where your fingers might not fit. A dog's ear canal is quite long (look it up) and so, you shouldn't be afraid of puncturing an ear drum or anything. Always be careful, but I don't think hair is growing that far down in their ear. Pulling the hair doesn't hurt the dog if you go slow and only pull a few hairs at a time. It should be well tolerated. With the individual packets, it controls how much you use and so that is good. You don't need a lot though, but not wasting a product is always appreciated. Read more
