I have unfortunately had to use this for my grand daughter a few times already since buying it. She gets sick quote a bit during the winter and this winter is no different. It has been correct everytime I have used it....I know this because I also used the ear one a few times to make sure it was correct. I bought this for a back up thermometer, because I tend to lose mine often. Battery ran out within a week of buying. Back cap falls off and isn't safe for small children who could swallow battery. Product wouldn't stay on Fahrenheit, and kept switching to Celsius, and we couldn't figure out how to get it switched back. No instructions on how to do that. Works great. Before making a decision of buying this, like always, I checked for low reviews. Many were of the battery arriving empty. Then looked for info about which button battery is used. None. Asked Rufus, "Which type of battery is used." Rufus answers, "it uses a button cell battery." Useful, right? There is no info from the product details. Anyway, for those that are concerned, it is LR41 (forty one). It's consistent what this supplier does. The users manual that came in the package doesn't specify that either!! I gave it a chance before I pulled the battery out to find out. It wasn't easy to pull it out. The small printed circuit board came out in the process, but by a few millimeter, so no destruction. There is no user friendliness to it. But for the price of its functionality. I would forgive. Less than $4 for this! It's amazing (so far). Time will tell if I remain in this but I don't regularly use it, only when I'm sick or someone in family is. What they can also do, to save the battery in shell life? Just put piece of plastic that is to be pulled at the first use by the users like many other product does. For another thing, the manual states that the Power Consumption is mere 0.15MW. For me, it is Mega Watt, I guess for most of you. So, if there's any chance this review is read by the supplier. Hey, one correction and one addition. Addition. Battery used: LR41 Correction. Power consumption: 0.15 mW as in milliwatt instead of 0.15 MW as in Mega Watt. For your hardware, two improvements: 1. PCB adhesion, so the PCB isn't pulled out in the process/attempt of getting the battery out. 2. Before shipping, insert plastic to improve the shelf life so the first experience doesn't disappoint customers. PCB together with LCD can be pulled out to make the battery replacement a little easier but as the manual states, there has to be a connection from it to the thermistor. There is no way of knowing how far one can pull it out or will pull. Anyway, for the price I got, I'm just impressed and amazed for how well it generally works! Read more

I opened the thermometer today. Had to take the battery out because it was not turning on. The battery and connecting point had to be cleaned as they had green residue on them. Returned the battery to thermometer, only to turn it on and get an "err" message. I was sent a thermometer with a dead battery. UGH. Read more

It's okay, IF you get the right product and the thing works. First I received Cat treats instead of the thermometers I bought (I bought 2), and then I received the 2 thermometers, and returned the cat treats, but got a message saying I had not sent the treats back. And I got 2 thermometers, but opened them and one doesn't work. Read more
