Easy Power Button Base for Mac mini M4 Stand Aluminum Desktop Dock Mac mini M4 Accessories

The Switch Activator consists of three pieces: the housing which fits the left rear contour of the Mac Mini, a plunger within the housing. and a lever within the base of the housing. Pressing on the plunger causes the lever to lift which presses the on power switch of the Mac Mini. The lever fell out of the housing before it could be installed. Fortunately the lever could be reinserted making sure the raised pips on each end are upward. There is no way of securing the housing to the Mac Mini. The manufacturer should provide peel off sticky tape affixed to the inside curvature of the housing. As a makeshift I used transparent tape on the outside of the housing to hold it in place. The Switch Activator works, and I don’t have to turn the Mac Mini on its side or over to turn it on. Read more

First off, it works, it’s nicely machined, and (unlike some M4 mac mini accessories) the metal’s color matches my mini’s color. Mechanically, this button works by depressing a rod, which pushes down on one side of a miniature see-saw, causing the other side to rise and press the Mac mini’s power button. Here are the minor issues I noticed: 1> There’s nothing really holding the switch in place against the mini. Pressing the button has a tendency to cause it to shift slightly. That also means that if one moves the mini, the switch will almost certainly need to be moved separately. A bit of double-sided tape may be the solution—though I don’t intend to try it. 2> [This may or may not be a common issue, regardless, it is easily fixed] The button-rod is housed in a rounded aluminum “tower,” shaped to nestle the mini’s corner. On the one I received, the tower was a bit wobbly because the screws which affix it to the switch’s base weren’t fully tightened. 3> [This is an incredibly MINOR nit] When one slides the switch into place, it sits flush with the mini’s corner, with only a hairline gap between them. However, the moment I stopped applying the “slide-into-place” pressure, the top of the switch leans back just a little, opening up the gap tiny bit more. If one is willing to put up with a couple minor annoyances, this is a nice little switch. Perfect design, look and feel, why didn’t Apple do this in the first place! Unlike the plastic versions, this is the same material, look, and feel as the Mac Mini itself! It should come with some adhesive, but I had some Scotch adhesive transfer tape that worked perfectly to assure it doesn’t come loose even if you lift or move the Mac Mini. It works perfectly and looks like it belongs, the best solution in my opinion to be able to power off and on the Mac Mini without reaching under it. It was a problem for me as my monitor would come on and off when the Mac was in sleep mode. Read more

This little button helps a lot since the on/off button on the Mac mini M4 is hard to access, however, the button comes apart easily, and it also doesn’t have anything to leave it stock to the side of the Mac. I used a double sided tape for now to keep it in place. Read more
