Great Style and Fit for Wide Feet, But Painful Front Upper Ankle Edge

I have a wide, thick foot and was pleasantly surprised by how the size 8.5 wide fit was perfect right out of the box. Unfortunately, the top front edge of the shoe is too tall and stiff, and it dug into my leg/upper ankle area. That made them too uncomfortable to wear, even though I loved the style and the foot fit.
