This coat seems to be of nice quality. The fabric and lining are attractive. The "black" color is really gray (as pictured). The gray does not have any weird purple or blue cast to it. It's just a very nice, neutral color. The coat should be fairly warm - maybe not enough for bitter cold, but fine for fall and milder winter days. At first, I was disappointed because I thought the pockets were not functional. They arrived stitched up partially. But all you have to do is cut away the stitching, and the pockets do indeed work. Yay! That's definitely important for me. One negative is that the coat shape is rather boxy and not terribly flattering (for me anyway). I wish they had put some darts, or cinching mechanism on the back to add some shaping and make it more feminine. One other little thing is that the lining on the sleeves needs to be tucked back inside when you first put on the coat. It's mildly frustrating. I find this coat to be a great option for almost all of my outfits. It's long enough to cover most of my cardigans - especially nice for those cardigans that have longer pieces in the front, which looks so strange hanging out of most coats. This coat covers those. The coat looks nice with black and brown. It looks nice with jeans, with slacks, and even with a dress. The only time I feel it doesn't work well is if I'm wearing a really long cardigan - like a maxi cardigan that extends all the way down to my calves. But other than that one exception, this coat is super versatile. It has become my new fave. Some reviewers say this doesn't run true to size. But mine seems right on point. Maybe it varies by color?
