I have purchased three of these Eddie Bauer coats in different sizes over the years because I have gained weight due to a back injury. I love this coat and gave the small one to my friend, since she had not bought a winter coat of her own yet and needed one. It’s a great coat and the lining is perfectly warm and also removable via button loops, making the outer shell a pretty lightweight raincoat on warmer days. No wind gets through this coat and it is long enough to cover my bum, so it stays dry when I sit on something cold or wet like a bench outside in winter. The outer and inner breast pockets are zipper closures, so keeps everything safe inside. I usually don’t carry a purse when I wear this coat, since mostly everything I need fits in the pockets. Also, the hood is removable, leaving behind a more stylish collar. I wish it were just slightly longer but I have another longline coat I use when I want to keep my legs warm too, only I use this liner with it sometimes to make it warmer since it doesn’t have one! 3/4 length, just right for me. The lining is warm, good for winter. Great value. The zippers work well, on the hood and on the bodice. No belt to lose, which I prefer. Worked well in the rain. I wore a scarf at my neck, since it was windy. The color is neutral, good for all seasons and coordination with clothing. Read more
Well made, fits perfectly. Perfect length. Comfortable. The only issue was the color is much closer to Navy Blue than Mulberry. The color is good and I like it, but would have liked it better with the color pictured. Read more
I was looking for a *waterproof* trench or raincoat for an upcoming trip to a rainy European location....yet I also needed something that could be warm enough (with layers) if the temps dipped at night. This coat seems ideal. I followed the advice of some other reviewers who noted the coat ran small or was narrow in the shoulders and sized up one size from my usual size. Ordered an XL (rather than usual L), and it fits perfectly with some room to spare. I can easily wear a light wool sweater and a thermal undershirt under the lining if it gets cold. The coat is long (almost to the knees) for good coverage, but unzips at the bottom if needed for walking or sitting. There sleeves are long. The slightly fitted waist creates a gentle hourglass shape that looks sharp. I love the dark eggplant color. Got this coat for 50% off during an Eddie Bauer sale period. Haven't tested it out in the rain yet, but I'm feeling confident it will do the job and be warm and chic while doing it. The coat seems to be the perfect coat at the perfect size to meet my travel needs. Note: This is not one of those travel coats that bunches up in a little ball to stick in a bag. I anticipate wearing this coat while travelling and every day while on my trip, so I did not need for it to be super tiny / packable. Read more
I waited awhile for this coat to go on sale. I was so disappointed when it arrived. It was advertised as an insulated coat with removable liner. No liner. I think this was the less expensive model that doesn’t have one. I didn’t see where one could fasten inside it. The bag wasn’t sealed well, so I’m also suspecting that it was a return. It also seemed to be sized small. I won’t reorder this jacket. One star for the color. Read more
Wore this coat for two weeks travel in Ireland. I like that I could blend in both in Dublin and in rural areas(though I wish it didn't have the logo on sleeve). Even better, this coat kept me warm and dry and I had a secure place for my phone. This is such a perfect coat for anyone who does a lot of walking in rain, sleet, wind.... And you can still tell your a woman underneath...it's cut in a slight hourglass shape. Big thumbs up here... Pair it with a cross-body bag, boots & gloves...and you can go anywhere... Read more
I had great faith in the brand name of Eddie Bauer. The coat is fine. Works as it should and looks nice. I have worn it once in the rain and discovered a small hole in the interior, left pocket. Not eorth returning from my rural area. I can't sew it up myself because the pocket is enclosed between the outer shell and the nob-removable, onterior lining. Disappointed and the hole will drive me nuts whenever I use the pocket because I will always feel it, nor can I use the pocket to hold small things without worry thay they will fall through the hole into the lining of the coat.
