I was in the market for something that could ease the myriad of problems I had in lugging around multiple electronics into areas with spotty wifi and questionable networks. What I thought would be ideal is a setup that allowed me to get full use out of Samsung DEX. The idea of being able to just plug my phone into a laptop and gain full access to the internet via data service on the phone is very appealing. One warning I had to acknowledge, but I was hopeful was exaggerated, was that the DEX functionality would not work post UI 7.0. I have a Samsung S23 Ultra, and it is fully up to date with Android 16 and One UI version 8. I went ahead and pulled the cord anyway. I'm a fairly good technologist, and I was certain I could get around these issues. As it turns out, it works absolutely fine. I did not have finagle or adjust anything. Seriously, just plugged it in and it started working immediately. The screen looks great. Very bright and very large (15.6 inches). I tested it with my phone, my tablets and even another laptop. About the only negative thing I encountered is an issue with the OS on my devices. For a couple of them, I couldn't get the sound to go to the right device. This is my ""out of box the first thing I did" review Product: VERY solid. Feels hefty ands durable. Material is good to the touch. Tons of portas I must learn. I have touched no instructions.. The fact it has a number pad is impressive, but also does not feel cramped. Keyboard has a nice, but slightly unique tactile feel, but very responsive. I enabled Samsung DEX on my old retired 10e, plugged in the cable, was met with a DEX splash for a moment, and then had a workable desktop. Trackpad works, display is crisp and clean. Well, first off... YouTube... 1080p streaming from Youtube was flawless, even on my old phone. trackpad - responsive to a "T". Display is bright and the colors have great separation (I chose a Gravity Falls video up there since it is animated and throws a ton of colors). Also, it was CHARGING MY PHONE. I didn't know it would do that. That's just a bonus I didn't know it would do... It comes with all the cables you could want USB-C to C with data and charging, HDMI to HDMI-mini, USB A-A (Hard to find these days, a charger... etc. I am actually going to pass this around my IT team members and ask them to evaluate it as well.. This is a prelim review after spending just 10 minutes with it. In the time I wrote this, it charged my phone from 91% to 100%... I hope Amazon will allow me to expand as I continue to use this. I got it because I work remotely and like to travel. This fixes the problem of having only one screen when I travel. This portable monitor was easy to set up and super convenient. Works how I was expecting. I'm glad I researched and got the 15.6" version. I'd really like this with the improvements over the 14" but with the smaller screen. The only slightly disappointing thing is either it doesn't automatically shut off when unused or it has a very small battery, where I need to deliberately shut it off when stowing it. Read more
