Love this unit! I tried the ones you have to crank yourself but found I needed 3 hands . This one stays in place and the blades are sharp enough that all my food comes out easily and uniform. I tried cutting cheese,vegetables and both worked great. I recommend this to anyone that cuts a lot of food and doesn't want a big hassle with the crank. I’ve tried to submit this review before, but it won’t post. I hope this one posts. I am returning this grater which I unsuccessfully tried to use twice after receiving from Amazon. I received a refund for the return, but the rules say the item must be unopened or unused so my refund could be denied. This item was defective which was not obvious until I used it. It was extremely difficult to take the washable parts of this grater apart to wash it before the first use. The food chamber release didn’t want to release from the motorized base. It was just as difficult to replace after washing and drying. However, I gave it a chance twice. After the first grating of carrots, the four prongs holding the blade holder in place would not return to the position where the blade holder could be removed, and I had to use a pliers to get the blade holder realigned so it could be removed. It was also extremely difficult to put and take out the food chamber from the motorized base. For a second time, the prongs would not return to the position where the blade holder could be removed, and once more, I had to use a pliers to remove the blade holder. It also was extremely difficult to remove the food holder from the base again. Somewhere in the molding or manufacturing process, this grater was not correctly made. Finally, the description says the grater is pastel yellow. The one I received was white. Read more

I've tried other graters, but this one is heads above the others for cheese grating. They recommend using the coarse blades for cheese. Soft cheeses (Monterey Jack) even chilled, was a challenge for others. Not this bad boy, it spit it out like it was nothing.
