I ordered a different variety quite a while ago that just didn't work out. I almost passed up on these because of my previous experience. I'm really happy I didn't. My use for them is a bit different than their intended usage. I got them to start up my fireplace. I use a fire starter made of wood shavings soaked in wax to get started, but I need to get it started. I use these for that purpose. I save some of the paper wrappings you get in packaging when you order things, rip off a strip of that and set the fire starter on top of the paper. I stack the fire wood around this "wick" and then light the packaging with these candle starters. The first ones I ordered just wouldn't work. These, are starting it immediately. I've been using a butane torch until now but wasting money on butane didn't make a lot of sense. If these continue to operate as they have out of the box, they were an excellent choice. If all you're using them for is lighting candles they should work fine for you. It will start the fire starter wraps I buy without the paper, if I loosen up a stran from the wrapped fire starter but the paper is less hassle. Read more
The design of this lighter gives it a flexibility you don’t see in typical electric lighters. It is 10 inches long, and the top half is flexible and can easily be bent into nearly any shape. The long flexible end helps light candles that are in chimneys without lifting the chimney, or candles in jars that are getting low. It also works well for gas stoves, grills, and even lighting paper when starting a fire. They also work in windy conditions since there is no flame for the wind to blow out. The lighter ignites the paper easily, and within a few minutes I have a roaring fire. It produces a strong arc that usually lights on the first try and makes a quiet buzzing sound while operating. The arc shuts off as soon as you release the on/off button. The lighter also has a lock to prevent accidental use. Four blue LEDs indicate the battery charge each time you use it. With the price being so cheap I was wondering what the catch might be, but these are performing great so far. For most use cases I would consider this a replacement for disposable lighters. You do need to get what you're trying to light between the small gap of the ignition prongs, so you'd need to get a bit creative to light something large. The battery life on these seems great so far, they arrived fully charged and the one I've been testing hasn't gone down much after using it several times. The flexible neck is also a nice touch, you can get it into some tricky spots without a problem. It is windproof and it does automatically shut off after around 7 seconds. you get two lighters and two charging cables. It mentions a safety lock, but I'm not sure how child safe these are. The safety lock is basically just a sliding switch which doesn't require much force to turn off the safety to use the lighter. I wouldn't be concerned about it if it was in a bag during travel, but I could see a kid easily getting this thing to work and playing with it. Read more
I bought these primarily because I was tired of burning my fingers with standard lighters when our candles started getting low in the jars. The flexible neck is the best part of the design because it lets you reach deep into containers or odd angles without any trouble. It feels much safer than trying to tilt a flame and hoping the wax doesn't drip on you. The battery life has been decent so far. I can go through several dozen lightings before the little blue indicator lights show it needs a charge. It is also quite helpful for the gas stove when the built in igniter is acting up. Since it uses an electric arc, it works even when there is a breeze coming through the window, which is something my old plastic lighters could never handle. One thing to keep in mind is that the arc is fairly small, so you have to be precise with your aim to get the wick right in the middle. It also makes a high pitched whistling sound when you press the button, but it only lasts for a second. I would recommend these as they are a good replacement for disposable lighters and it is nice to just plug them in instead of throwing more plastic in the trash. Read more
The Electric Lighter 2 Pack is pretty cool. I had never used this type of lighter before, but I am impressed. They make lighting things simple and work really well. We used them on candles, incense, and the grill, and everything lit quickly. They even worked outside in the wind when lighting the grill. Charging is easy with the included USB cables, and the handle shows the battery level so you know how much charge is left. It has two layers of safety. First, the main power switch must be turned on for the lighter to work at all. Then, it only lights while you hold down the button, so it will not turn on by accident. The long handle makes it easy to reach wicks that sit deep in jars or candle holders, although I wish they were just a tad longer for the grill. I cannot say how long the battery lasts yet since they are still going strong, but so far I am very happy with these lighters. Read more
