Great low price. Cheaply made. Does not provide that close of a shave but you can expect much at the price of $10. Read more

pretty decent for a cheap $10 razor........ It cut smooth and even...... pulled a little if not laid flat to the surface Read more
Listen, I know a Bargain (i.e., something inexpensive And a good Value) when I see one. You’re probably reading this because the Rayi RS 8300 is inexpensive but want to see if it’s a good value too. Well, here’s my experience with it for your consideration. I’ve read in reviews a lot of hand-wringing about the unavailability, at this time, for replacement parts (screens and blades). Here’s why I’m not concerned about that. Total truth here: I’d been using my daily foil screen travel shaver (using replaceable batteries – I use rechargeable AA’s in it) for over 6 (that’s right, s-i-x) Years (not months), and have never replaced either the original cutting block or even the original flat foil screen during those 6+ years! (Sure, I look more like a wolf man than Cary Grant when I’m done shaving – just kidding. Actually, the shave is still, even now, quite satisfactory.) So even if I can’t get replacement “consumable” parts for the Rayi RS 8300, I’m optimistic that it really wouldn’t matter. Add to this, the Rayi’s instruction booklet recommends replacing those parts every 2 Years, so you’ve got lots of time to get your money’s worth. Now, let’s address the comfort of the grip on the Rayi RS 8300. If people are complaining that it lacks a “soft-touch”, rubberized coating, I say – be careful what you wish for. Such coatings have been absolutely ruinous on my stuff, especially grooming and electronics (mice, keyboards). In my experience, in 2 to 3 years or so, that pleasant, grippy, rubberized (“how do they do that?”) coating usually degrades into, first, a “sticky-touch” and then into an “oily-touch”. Please, just don’t let it touch my stuff! It’s notorious (just google “soft-touch sticky”). While not a big fan of “piano black” plastic like they used on early LCD TV’s (until, I guess, it inevitably proved impractical because of all the scratches that appeared from dusting) and which the Rayi has a bit of, I’ll take it any day over “soft-touch”. Better yet, just use Flat, non-glossy surfaces, which the Rayi also has – they stay new looking until the item dies a natural death. Calling the cleaning instruction hieroglyphics “cryptic” would be charitable. Calling them mystifying would be accurate. I still don’t know what I’m supposed to do with the on/off button in the cleaning process. (My first reaction was that pushing it in deep enough might eject the head assembly, but didn’t want to test that theory too vigorously, so I didn’t. You shouldn’t either – there’s no point in doing that.) I’ve been finding the actual shaves to be better on neck hairs and quieter than the flat, foil screen shavers I’ve been using (various brands) for over 50 years. However, shaving the area above the upper lip to be a bit rough to do, though, ultimately, with acceptable results. I understand that changing from one shaving technology to another can take a bit of technique adjustment, so I’m allowing for that. So, is the Rayi RS 8300 a good value? -At this point, I’d say it looks like it will be. I can't say at this point (I’ve been using it for only 6 days so far) how long it will last, but if it lasts at least 6 months, it would “owe me nothing” even if I had paid the current $10 price for it. This electric razor feels very toy-like and cheap in the hand. The plastic is thin and the finish is basic, like items you sometimes see sold on mats at markets or discount stalls. It works for a shave, but it does not feel durable or high quality. The 4D heads follow face curves and shave cleanly. Battery charges fast with Type-C and runs long enough for several shaves. It is compact and portable, but the lightweight body makes it hard to hold steadily when wet. Read more
