Electric Skillet Techwood 7 5-Quart 2-in-1 Slow Cooker Versatile Multi-Cooker with 5-Level Heat Settings Come with Non-stick Skillet

I've been upping my cooking game to eat healthier and to save money by not eating out as much. I thought this would be a nice addition to my other cookware and I was correct. I love it as its versatile, not that heavy, very easy to use and non-stick. To use it you just turn the knob on the front to whatever heat level you want and the symbols on the front help determine that (ex: maximum for Fish, Steak, etc). It comes in 4 parts including the base, lid, grill and a large hotpot/slow cooker. All are non stick and clean up really well. The instructions that come with the skillet explain how to season it intially when using for the first time as well as other important info regarding the skillet, storing it, etc. I cooked my first meal on it (See photo) including brussel sprouts and a tuna steak and it all came out perfectly. I didn't feel like it was going to get out of hand or burn quickly and the heat felt very controlled. I feel that the price point is on par with other similar products and this one feels like a good buy as it feels like a quality product. This electric skillet is lightweight and easy to use. The heating element is not a visible coil. Instead, it has a rectangular heating plate. It comes with two rectangle pans, one deeper pan, and one grill style pan. Both have handles, are lightweight, and have a non-stick coating. The grill pan will hold four good size burgers or two steaks. The lid is glass with a removable rubber type gasket that fits all around the outside edge. The removable gasket does make it easier to clean the lid. The handle on the lid is really large and sturdy. The control knob goes from warm to sear, and it seems to be adjustable incrementally. It does not have an on/off switch and, in my opinion, that’s a feature it should have. At first I decided to try it as a slow cooker by slow cooking some small red beans. But this does not hold 7-1/2 quarts as advertised. Adding two cups of dried beans and 2-1/4 quarts of water came so close to the top, anything over the low (slow cook) setting caused the liquid to bubble up through the vent hole in the lid and boil over the sides. Once turned down to its lowest setting above warm, it did cook the beans. Maximum quantity for the deeper pan is more like 3-1/2 quarts and that’s pretty much to the brim. I wouldn’t recommend putting any more than 2 quarts in the non-grill pan. The grill pan is shallower and definitely holds less. The pans are simply too shallow and too light weight to be advertised as a slow cooker. I believe the manufacturer is trying to make this electric skillet more than it really is. If they were more upfront about the skillet’s capabilities and limitations, I’d have given it a higher score. I took off one star for not being an effective slow cooker, and another star for the size inaccuracy. But if you are looking for an electric skillet that can brown and cook in one pan and grill in the other. It’s a decent little countertop appliance. Read more

I like this electric skillet. I have used it multiple times. The first was slow cooker hamburger steaks with gravy- this is not intended to replace a crockpot by no means. It cooks fast, no matter what the setting and you must keep an eye on it or your will burn your food!! I grilled on the grill pan and was impressed with how well it did my steaks. There are a lot of cool cook options, it’s compact but comes with deep enough pans to cook meals for large families. Nonstick- so easy cleanup afterwards. Read more

The media could not be loaded. I appreciate the low profile of this multi-cooker; it will be nice to slow cook a casserole and serve out of this then once cooled refrigerate easily. The temperature range is very wide which is a plus for different foods, and cooking types like frying then being able to keep warm.
