Quick, inexpensive fix.

I have an Lg window unit that the ground pin broke off of on the plug. Replaced the plug with this and works perfect. Very inexpensive when compared to buying a new unit. Super easy to replace. Seems to be great quality. Cord length seems just slightly shorter but not by much. Would definitely buy again. Read more

Worth the time / Works Great

Found out hard way 12/3 extension cord couldn't take the load. 10/3 mandatory. ELEGRP replacement cord works fine. Ground wire went to screw, but had to use crimps on common and load. Took a couple cycles to settle the brain, but now all's good and running fine. Worth the effort to figure out how to take the case off. It's an LG unit. Read more

Compatible with LG LP1017WSR portable AC unit

AldanaJuly 23, 2024✓ Verified purchase

This cord came to my rescue during a great ordeal. Here’s the stitch. Both my condenser and air handler died back in March. I live in Florida so not having any AC became a matter of life or death. Thankfully I have a great relationship with my ex and his family kindly lent me not one but two portable AC units to keep me going until September when I had the funds to drop 8k in replacing my condenser and air handler. Well being a single 26 year old young woman and first time homeowner, there is a lot I don’t know and a lot of subsequent learned lessons. This being a prime example. So I had no idea you could not connect a portable AC unit to an extension cord. I went a few months without any issue and then one evening in July I am awoken to loud beeping sounds and my dogs going nuts. I was scared because not that long ago I was being stalked so my immediate thought goes there. I am paralyzed in fear in my bed. A few minutes goes by and no signs of a man crawling through my window so the coast seems clear. The beeping resumes. At that, I gained the courage to go investigate the source. My second guess was it was a fire and carbon monoxide alarm because it sounded just like one, however that couldn’t be right because I have none! (I’m a hot mess) As I got closer to the source of the beeps I realize it was originating from the portable AC unit. That can’t be right I thought, the AC unit is working just fine, cold air is blowing, what gives? I decide it’s just some weird fluke and return to bed. Well a few hours later I am awaken by the same beeping noise and since the sun is out so I decide I should probably get my butt out of bed and take a closer look. Low and behold I see the problem. The extension cord looks a bit melted. Oh no. After a quick google search I am made aware of my error. Not only is the extension cord melted but so is the power cord and the outlet! This isn’t good. Immediately feel overwhelmed and upset because I was being lent this unit by the kindness of others and I am responsible for damaging it. I let my ex’s family know and they tell me not to worry about it, accidents happen. I insist on replacing it and am struck down and told they would not accept a replacement even if I bought one. In the midst of my breakdown I receive a text from my best friend who informed her electrician father and he suggests that its possible I just need to replace the power cord to the unit, plug the unit into a different and non-melted outlet, and it’ll maybe be alright! Hope emerges. Google tells me why not. Amazon suggests a compatible cord. I add to cart, check out, and one day later, the cord arrives. Next part was horrible but turns out replacing this power cord was not going to be a simple job. The cord was delivered around 5pm. I was not done with the task until 11pm. I had to completely disassemble the unit to change out the cord. However it worked!!! Success!!! I still don’t know what I don’t know so it’s entirely possible this fries and causes my house to burn down but if that happens it’ll likely be a result of my human error Read more

Fixed my Midea 12,000 BTU Room Window Air Conditioner

Straight UpJuly 24, 2023✓ Verified purchase

Three days ago we had a huge thunderstorm and lightning struck our electrical items in our house. This is the second time I lost an air conditioner due to this. The last time I just threw the damaged air conditioner out and bought a new one, a Midea 12,000 BTU Room Window Air Conditioner Model # MAW12S1YWT-E. Lightning struck the house again two years after the last strike, but this time I stopped to think about it. When I pressed the reset button on the LCDI plug it flashed green for a second and tripped. Maybe the problem was the plug, not the entire air conditioner. After reading about this power cord, I thought it was worth a shot. It's supposed to be compatible with Midea. I'm not super handy, but I'm getting better. The real challenge is taking apart the air conditioner to replace the cord without breaking anything. You don't want it rattling after you fix it. I used my phone camera to take pictures along the way as I disassembled the front fascia and other parts that were screwed down. It wasn't nearly as bad as I thought it would be once I figured out how everything came apart. There wasn't that much really, and I only needed a Phillips head screwdriver. It was seven screws total, not bad. I did have to cut a small zip tie inside holding the power cord wires together, but I didn't replace it because it didn't look like it needed it. The connectors pop right on. Don't rush it, and again, take pictures if you're worried about putting it back together. My wife gave me a hand holding the cover so I could disconnect and reconnect the display wire from the front panel, plus her little fingers are good for tight spaces. The moment of truth came, and Shazam! It's back in business. Saved myself several hundred and that feels good. Read more
