This is the best percolator since my 2008 & 2010 Cuisinart ones that I loved so much & used extra for tea as I was doing catering & cooking classes at the time. But I burned through those & was just making it on stove- but then needed 1 fast because I could no longer do that due to a stroke & nerve damage. I looked at the CRAZY prices of all of the percolators out there & then found this. It was an unused open box special & so I tried it because of the low price & it being ALL stainless steel. It brews an amazing cup of coffee & it is still great cold or reheated! It takes about 10-12min to fully brew and the base stays hot for 2.5hrs afterwards. The blue light shows when ready & it has a red light to show brewing. The inside of percolator is marked from 4 cups to 12 cups on the inside by the handle & so is the basket to ensure the right base amount standard pre-ground coffee from store. Im super stingy with my 5 stars & this definitely makes the cut!! I found if I wait about 3min after the blue light comes on then the whole pot is a little stronger. But if I pour right away I get an okay cup and the rest is much stronger. Also if you grind the coffee beans at time of brewing then you can reduce the amount of grounds by a few teaspoons too! The different strengths of beans and various roasts can be adjusted too. But I do recommend each time a new bean style/flavor is bought to stick with their basic markings before adjusting to taste! 👍I also purchased the filters for it and they were $6 for 350. Those keep the holes from becoming clogged & having to spend time cleaning out the basket. Those actually save how much grounds I need to put in because you get a better brew. The filters are also nontoxic & non bleached plus fully compostable! Highly recommended for those who have disabilities or are on the go a lot! The filters is pre cut & half the thickness of a coffee filter- they work best if you rinse the basket out well & then place directly into the wet basket! Let the filter absorb the water in the basket for about 3seconds & then add your coffee or tea leaves; then drop the basket into pot with pole inside. Read more

Wanted to love this. Living a more low tox lifestyle and loved that there wasn't any plastic involved. Just do yourself a favor and don't buy this. Or maybe we just got a POS. Or maybe our house is just a POS. Worked fine at first. Makes coffee fast and keeps it hot if it's plugged in and on. However I started noticing that it kept tripping our plug ins. So coffee wouldn't be done as it would shut off right away. I'd have to do this three times or more for it to finally finish. So I thought maybe just the outlet I was using was overloaded. Nope. Did it to another outlet that didn't have anything else plugged in to it. And another. Two are actually blown or something as they won't even come on when we switch the breaker for them. Nothing else has ever done this to our outlets and we have several things plugged into different outlets at a time. I am extremely thorough and make sure no water when cleaning this gets near the plug in. So safe to say after 6 months this is going in the trash. Read more

Yeah it's a percolator, but it's hard to beat! Of course these are harder to clean than a drip coffee maker. And yeah the heater core is aluminum, along with the cap is a hard plastic. But that doesn't compare to the full plastic components of heating in a normal drip coffee maker that would add more toxins to a general cup of coffee. The cool thing about percolators, is there brewing extraction. You end up using less coffee to make the same amount. I found in the 12 cup, between 32 g and 34 g is ideal for my family. The auto function works perfectly, and on this model the light goes from red to blue when it's in warm mode that stays on for approximately 2 hours. The brewing cycle is between 9-11 minutes. If it doesn't start percolating that water up to that cap within 1-2 minutes, you may not have put the percolator pipe centered in the unit. These are much easier to pack for a trip, and I love these for that reason alone. I, like many people, poke a hole in a normal coffee filter, and measure my coffee into the basket. I use a CR2032 battery that's dead, as I pour grounds into the basket so that way it doesn't go in the hole on the scale:) as far as grounds getting at the bottom a little bit, that's a good trade-off compared to the extraction and the flavor, that can't be matched. And so what?!! just don't drink the last half a cup!! You know you didn't drink the last half a cup on your drip coffee maker because it burned! Also I love this one because of the base easily connecting it and reconnecting it without unplugging it. And I can just hide the base behind something, so it's out of the way and not even on the counter, until I need to use it again. PS. I read a lot of reviews saying the caps would crack, and to get the glass alternative. So I did that. I have yet to put the glass ones on there, because the plastic has never cracked. So I would say that it might not be necessary to get the glass. Anyway, if you have not tried a percolator, or you've had one and want to upgrade, this is the one! enjoy! Read more

For the price, you cannot beat this. It looks tasteful, doesn't take up a lot of space, it's easy to operate and clean, and it yields a marvelous cup of coffee, IF you grind your coffee correctly, which would be a coarse grind; I started with 12 seconds in my krups grinder, but it was too fine/left a ton of sediment. Then went to 10 seconds/similar result. So ended up at an 8 second grind, and it was perfect! The keep warm function works GREAT! NO issues. Even if I hadn't gotten it used, in good condition, I would have still paid full price. I don't understand what the negative reviews are about. This is a marvelous percolator!!! Read more
